I think it is awesome! I hope they have some big banners that declare we now take bitcoin. Nothing like good media from a decent company.

:Edit I just checked the site, no bitcoin payment option as of yet or I missed it Sad

yeah and a little discount for paying in BTC would be nice  Smiley

There is still some confusion about the news. According to the initial announcement, they are accepting Bitcoins only for the hotel booking. Are they accepting them for the flight bookings as well?

BTW..... Coinbase has scored some brownie points in their battle against Bitpay.  Grin

Your thoughts?
They can't be bad. Every single business that starts accepting BTC is good for BTC. More places you can spend your BTC = more reason to have some. More people having some = better for eneryone in BTC ecosystem. Let alone price rise.

I still have to plan my summer vacations. I am going to have a serious look to expedia.

Probably not too much of an impact with price in all honesty, at least in the immediate-term. But this does help push the prong along nicely in regards to furthering merchant acceptance; now it's a matter of getting the other prong of mainstream users to increase.

I know what I'm doing when I plan my next vacation.

Here in France, no one knows overstock, but expedia is well known. Great signal.

To my mind, it's one of the best news in Bitcoin world, far more important than DISH network.
Unlike DISH, Expedia is a worldwide company.

At least, I'll be able to use frequently my BTC in real life!

Great to see that now Expedia accepts Bitcoin!
It was great when Overstock.com and Dish Network started accepting but I actually use Expedia quite often so it's even better Smiley

And the last jump was done out of the blue , without any major news about adoption at that moment.

Was probably due to technical analysis, breach of bearish trend and all that.

Unfortunately this is true and is annoying as hell.

We went up because the charts said it's time we go up and now we have a correction because traders follow the charts and a correction is needed according to them.

Time to break away again from this trend and let usage and adoption dictate the "real" price if there is any.

I don't think it will affect the bitcoin price very much. But I do think this is incredibly good news for bitcoin.

Looking forward to booking my next trip with bitcoin.  Cool

This is really a good news for Bitcoin at all!
It seems like the government in US is trying a little to hide BTC and not to be known by many, but this cannot happen Wink
Hope lots more join the comunnity and start accepting BTC as me.

Touchdown
"Coinbase charges just 1 percent — and the fees kick in only after a merchant has done more than $1 million per month in business."

^ No fees until $1m/month. Shocked

I wonder what the monthly threshold is for smaller merchants.

Looking for the next big thing
Has anybody made a timeline when big companies added bitcoin services?  It would be really neat to look at.

Accepting BTC via Coinbase is a great first step.

But i hope that within the next few years Companies will switch to direct, or at least not convert 100% to USD anymore.

PS: I also don't expect any great price movement from this

What do you guys think about this? Do you think it will affect the BTC price?

I personally believe this is even better than when Overstock started to take BTC.

Probably it won't..

Lately the price follows more the exchanges from China and the fud from the PBoc rather than the good news about adoption.

And the last jump was done out of the blue , without any major news about adoption at that moment.

I still wish that i'm wrong ..
