^ That is for sure. On the basis I did the research there are no "obvious" mistakes or proof but I hit a group of posters participating in almost the same campaigns so they could really be part of a farm or a few farms. On the other hand, I didn't check the deleted post history, which I will do soon to see if they were engaged in the bumping business back in the day.

Conclusion: 8 of 10 are "OK",  most of the users above are relatively new and have not so much posts. Can be genuine or just good new alts.
Beside posting proof of registration posts one after the another, there are few more "coincidences" among 8/10 accounts:
  • All of them were made between June 29th - August 18th 2018
  • They went on break during September/October 2018
  • Came back between December 23rd 2020-January 13th 2021
  • ETH adressess used are clean as a whistle, with no prior transaction history

As @lovesmayfamilis pointed out, this is just a new farm being woken up and a person behind it is a little bit smarter than an average bounty abuser as he at least used clean ETH adresses and social media accounts.

If your "authentic" users are reading this, I think they are laughing a lot. I am more than sure that this is another farm that has "gained experience" and does not launch accounts with one registration date. All these accounts woke up overnight after 3 years of hibernation and went information to register for the bounty with a minute break.
All this is a matter of time, they now think that they managed to deceive everyone. But there will be mistakes, and sooner or later this whole army will turn red.

Welp, so long as somebody decides its a good idea to keep recruiting bounty hunters to advertise various shitcoin projects to each other all day long, the cycle will continue infinitely. I really don't understand how running a bounty is the least bit profitable knowing bounty hunters will always do the minimum amount of required work to get their tokens...
The way I see it, owners of those altcoin projects know that their shitcoins are worthless, so why not throw some at the bounty hunters, and maybe at least social media followers numbers will look better. Majority of bounty managers (someone correct me if I'm wrong) are paid either in those shitcoins or so little that is not much expense. And in the case that altcoin actually performs ok, you can always delay distribution for months or even years, reduce bounty poll, introduce KYC and whatnot.

A long time ago when I was involved in an ICO, I checked our website analytics pretty regularly and determined bounty hunters were barely driving any traffic to our website. I know that there's more to it than that, like getting out brand recognition and stuff, but bounty hunters just advertise to themselves all day, like they do here in Altcoin Discussion, on Facebook and Twitter (its easy to get 5,000 FB friends or Twitter followers if you're all bounty hunters and you all follow each other).
No surprise that their reach is zero, since all their followers are other bounty hunters/bots and those certainly are not interested in buying tokens. Basically an echo chamber.

They simply join just about any new bounty campaign that shows up, and then hope that out of dozens or hundreds few will bring them few bucks. Most of them are lazy and don't have any skills or interest in crypto, and none of that is needed to share tweets and facebook posts.

Today many farms participate in bounty campaigns. I regularly report violations from the ban. But the funny thing is that after the ban, they create even more accounts.
Yep, this is basically whack-a-amole game we play with them, and one has to ask himself does it even make any sense to report newbie accounts as it costs them literally 0 USD to make a new one. And they will do exactly that, ban or two won't make them change their mind. They can even replace Twitter/Facebook and other social media accounts as followers there can be easily bought for a few dollars.

Faced with such messages, I am surprised at the stubbornness and, to some extent, stupidity of people. They themselves complain that it is impossible to make money in the bounty, but despite this they still waste their time on it. Angry

You're right. Today many farms participate in bounty campaigns. I regularly report violations from the ban. But the funny thing is that after the ban, they create even more accounts. The messages that come to me in PM, on the contrary, accuse me of heartlessness, constantly reminding me that in a bounty company it is impossible to make money from one account.

Another test from today.

Went trough the first 30 posts in the patrol page. The result is 5 accounts reported for Ban Evading, 3 alt accounts detected, 2 weird cross spam bounty applications mixed (no rules broken yet).

I have to get back to work reporting soon.

I guess if a lot of members trying to do background checks for any bounty cheaters in the patrol section in this way they can eliminate most of the members trying to cheat the forum.
We should definitely strive for that and remove bounty abusers and spammers, but this situation is not easily solvable, as majority of them are using easily disposable newbie accounts, and every time they get banned, they simply make new one. Smarter ones change social media accounts so they can't be traced that way and that's about it. This  often might seem like a Whack-A-Mole, but it's worth it nevertheless.

By the way, an interesting experiment.  I am not surprised with the results and real situation is probably much worse in that regard but it is a good starting point to see where we stand at the moment.

The experiment only showed OP connecting bounty abusers by way of their ETH address and I can say for myself that is is effecting. The ones who are smarter would definitely not commit this kind of mistake and they are harder to catch, but the one thing I know how to catch them is diving in deeply into their ETH addresses and connecting them with each other showing how they deposit it to one address. I've seen threads before on how members catch one person controlling over multiple accounts. But with this method of search ETH address in the patrol section we can prevent even new accounts for abusing the campaign which I think is a big step for stopping these users growing in numbers.

Since the spam is not so much of a problem now and many already are keeping eye on the shitposters, it's maybe a time to change the focus of my hobby and start catching the alt accounts.
It's fairly easy to catch accounts, as they tend to be lazy and many use even almost the same usernames.
In addition there are a few, wonderful scripts and tools that came up recently to make our life even easier, so why not.

P.S.
Everyone can enable the Patrol page link: Go to Forum Profile Information and put a tick on Show patrol link:
Shows a link to the patrol page under "watchlist"

Then you have a quick access to the Patrol page.

...Now that bitcoin is starting to take off again, the forum is probably looking to be more profitable to the same pool of people, and they're doing what they've always done, i.e., using alt accounts to participate in as many bounties as they can...
If this true then we are very lucky that all these spammers and bounty abusers are literally dumb.
It is true though. Just remember how many times those bounty abusers and ban evaders came complaining that "their friend account" has been banned for no reason, and then after most basic search you find that OP is actually ban evading and has farm of 5-6 accounts. Almost every time bounty hunters comes to meta to complain, they dig thier hole just a bit deeper. That tells you all you have to know about an average bounty hunter and his mindset.

I normally do a random address check, from time to time and quite often i see ban evaders.
When i have more time I'll do a few more experiments like this one and will try to compare the data to get a bit more realistic overview of what the bounty hunters really look like.

With 50% of you catching someone by using your technique I think it is a good idea of preventing newbie accounts and users cheating a bounty campaign. And with the follow up YOSHIE did it just shows how effective monitoring the posts in the Patrol section is. I guess if a lot of members trying to do background checks for any bounty cheaters in the patrol section in this way they can eliminate most of the members trying to cheat the forum. Plus I think this is an easier way to clean-up the forum with alt-accounts without them going to threads one by one.

If this true then we are very lucky that all these spammers and bounty abusers are literally dumb. Why?

Because they haven't learned from their own mistakes. Almost every member which was here in 2017, 2018 and participated in bounties (don't mention mass abusers) should know about forum detectives and their investigations. First to check are the ETH and BTC addresses, social media accounts and so on.

I was wondering the same thing, who is this? When I was reading the OP and thought that maybe some newbie accounts because I haven't checked them yet?
My theory is different and I think that old abusers (mass abusers with plenty of bots) are clever enough to know the basic tricks of our detectives, so it has to be a newbie or somebody new to this.

Of course, I will be happy to be wrong because it will be easy to detect them, but I am afraid that the biggest scammers know the game and how to play.

I have a question, how does the patrol thing work?
I know the patrol page exists, but damned if I know how to access it--so I guess I have the same question.

But I definitely know what the results of what OP (and YOSHIE) found mean, and I can't say I'm shocked.  I'd say a good number of accounts registered around or after October 2017 have alts.  When I was spending a lot of time trying to bust shitposters in the pre-merit age, I found a LOT of accounts registered toward the end of 2017 were abusing bounties with alts, making multiple posts within a single thread with their alts, and more.  Bitcoin was headed toward its ATH at that time, so I'm sure it attracted a lot of new users seeking to make their fortune through bounties and campaigns.

Now that bitcoin is starting to take off again, the forum is probably looking to be more profitable to the same pool of people, and they're doing what they've always done, i.e., using alt accounts to participate in as many bounties as they can.

Good job sniffing those alts out, OP.
