I have filled out the form, I have nothing to lose but what has already been lost.

Wink I also filled out the form, two pieces, I have bitcoins and dogecoins there, let's see what happens. I don’t believe in fairy tales for a long time .. but suddenly))

It's definitely exit scam, i bet they can't show formal report from the recovery company. The form itself is also ridiculous since they ask for Unique ID (which most people don't bother to remember).

As I mentioned, the owner is a well-known faucet scammer from the past and some expected this, although it took a little longer than they thought. As for the unique ID, it's something like the coin address that each user received when they created the account and is used for faucet claims - it's not something that most users should have problems with. My ID consists of only 5 numbers and I remembered it easily, but its length can be longer depending on the registration date.

I have filled out the form, I have nothing to lose but what has already been lost.

Looking at this review, SM2258H is still used by SSD producer in 2020. So it's impossible there aren't any data recovery company which support that chip.

Of course, it would be possible to repair the disk if that was really a problem, but for most faucet users, such technical things don't make much sense anyway.

A new update from the EC says they have not been able to save the disks, which means the EC is not returning - but offers the option to fill out a form that can be used to claim funds that were on the EC at the time it stopped working.

I don't understand how the owner intends to compensate the clients if all the data is destroyed? In addition, the deadline he gives is only 10 days, which means that he aims to ensure that as few people as possible manage to claim their funds - an old trick of scammers who try to justify their actions.

I hope that EC will come back online soon , I'm staking there $200 worth KMD and I don't wanna lose that   Cry Cry

Sorry to hear that. One problem is that if it does return, will they still have your account data.

It's been over two weeks without any update, so regardless of whether it ever comes back or not, this is rather poor.

I wasn't aware that Expresscrypto is owned by well known scammer. It's strange that despite such things, Expresscrypto become quite popular microwallet and there were no red flags about them.

As far as I know, he had some faucets on FaucetHub that are scam users or something like that, and I remember a warning from @mexicantarget about something like this could happen. Otherwise, admin EC is known by the name achchou, and under that name, he also had faucets on FaucetHub.

Now I think it's small chance that Expresscrypto will return. Already enough time passed and haven't heard anything from them for a while.

I agree, the only chance is that this is about the owner being incredibly incompetent and that he really inadvertently messed things up - even though the chance of that is less than 10%. If the service doesn't return in ten days, I think it will be just another in a series that performed a successful exit scam.

I am also damaged for a smaller amount, although it bothers me more that I promoted this service from the very beginning, but who knew that everything would end like this.

I am about 90% sure they are not coming back.

Here are the last updates they made on their home page
Quote
Updates:

- 2021-12-28: Transfer hard disks to special recovery company.
- 2021-12-29: Special recovery company working on the restoration of both disks.
- 2022-01-04: Due to the holidays, there is no update from the company.

"Special recovery company" Is anybody thinking what I am thinking?  Grin

I can only say that the whole thing seems very suspicious, and that I now remembered the warning given by the owner of FaucetHub (mexicantarget) regarding the owner of ExpressCrypto who was a famous scammer on his platform at the time. At this point, there is still a chance that the site will work again - although the whole situation does not look promising at all.

I’ve had a few successful payouts from there in the past, but we all know it doesn’t mean anything in the long run.

Yeah, getting payment doesn't mean anything in long term. Most of microwallets were legit for more or less time - Epay, Microwallet, Faucetsystem and etc but all turned into scam.
Now I think it's small chance that Expresscrypto will return. Already enough time passed and haven't heard anything from them for a while.

But fact that they closed comments on their tweet don't look good.

Looking a bit further, it's more concerning that i thought,
1. They never disable comment, even on tweet about maintenance.
2. Using twitter search result (https://twitter.com/search?q=ExpressCryptoIo&src=typed_query&f=live), @ExpressCryptoIo don't bother reply any user question (such as estimated time).

Thanks for searching on Twitter, I see fresh comments, because the whole team is working on restoring the site ..

When the site is up and running, I will take all my coins ..

Maybe it's too early to say that they made exit scam. Let's wait few more days. But fact that they closed comments on their tweet don't look good.
0.009 BTC is big money from faucets, it would be so painful to lose it. But probably it's not good idea to keep so much coins on microwallet. Back when I was active on faucets, I requested payment as soon as I reach payment treshold. Though, fees for it weren't that big as now.

I had a tap there, I gave out dogokins, and I earned bitcoins on advertising Sad

I still hope that they will come back .... I still have a balance of dogoins on my tap, this indicates that the api keys are working

Does it seem that this website is an old faucethub or a clone?

I don't know if they can resolve this database issue but I think this is an exit scam attempt just like what happened to faucethub before.

Do you have an account there and have funds left?
Let's hope it won't end the same as faucethub.
It's one of microwallets which got opened after Faucethub was closed.
And I think you confused Faucethub with some other website because they didn't made exit scam. They announced about closure and gave few months to users to withdraw their coins.
Websites like Epay.info or Faucetsystem.com made exit scam.

Anything is possible. I wouldn't be shocked if it was an exit scam. it's why you should always never keep your funds online.

Write to them if you need any help ([email protected]) If they are scammers, it's no guarantee that you will be helped.

My sherlock sense is being triggered:

  • A quick google search for "Expresscrypto reddit" led me to find numerous reddit posts (+ users) with the same message being spread: "The autofaucets that I use to earn cryptos with ExpressCrypto just by leaving the browser open. Earn INSTANTLY and CONSTANTLY." The most recent one that I was able to find that wasn't deleted was this[1] one.
  • Their Trustpilot profile[2] is scary. The 5 stars comments definitely seem like bots/fake. The most real ones - to me at least - are the ones that report the same kind of problems usual with scam exchanges/micro wallet services / faucets, namely blocking account with no reason, charging exorbitant high fees - 80 %[3] - and slow/non-existent support according to numerous claims.
  • A Virustotal analysis reported Emsisoft as being "suspicious"[4] plus there was this[5] comment on the community tab:
    Quote
This IOC was found in a paste: https://pastebin.com/2KjG3zqg with the title "faucet_bot.php" by phishbox

For more information, or to report interesting/incorrect findings, contact us - [email protected]
  • Whenever I was browsing that page - archived by waybackmachine[6] - my CPU load increased significantly (from 5 % to 40 %). Either we are looking at a horrible coded website or perhaps they also employed browser mining methodologies[7]. I've also found references that during some period of time you could leave the browser open so that coins eventually were given to you, which make the plot ticken. This is not confirmed, but I would like to have further feedback from other members on this matter.

Nothing that I've seen makes me believe this is a "real" exchange/faucet/whatever this service is/was. It has all the landmarks from a fake service. If I were you, even if they come back, I wouldn't pour more money into it and instead would try - I doubt you'll be able to - withdraw everything you have from them.

Is it the expresscrypto.io?

They have twitter account and they've posted on December 26 that they've been experiencing database issue.

https://twitter.com/ExpressCryptoIo/status/1475033061398093827

I have never heard of them honestly by its description, they're a wallet. Typically, I'll just use another wallet that's proven to be reputable than any other.
