"...what will be the effect?"

Nothing. Scammers, shills and bounty hunters will move to other SM sites.

this just just for the facebook ads, the facebook campaigns like liking and sharing won't stop the campaigns though. the ICOs can still advertise on facebook by the help of the participants who are wiling to share the posts.

lesser new investors in crypto i guess would be the effect and it will slow down and low budget projects maybe.

Effect will be very big. Because facebook is one of biggest social media. If it happens ICO'S will have a very bad effect.

This might be for the best but it still wouldn't stop the scam icos or gullible people from investing in same icos.

This does seem to be bad news for the companies that specialise in promoting ICOs and those launching in the near future as Facebook is the main source of traffic to recruit investors.  However, in the longer term, and as the marketplace matures there will be other sources that will work equally well, if not better IMO.

I read this interesting articles and thinking what will the effect of this in the bounties that needed some social media campaign. This is part of the article "Facebook announced a ban on advertisements for "binary options, initial coin offerings and cryptocurrency." The blanket decision is part of the social media giant's efforts to prohibit ads for financial products and services "that are frequently associated with misleading or deceptive promotional practices."

Well, facebook is really a good way to promote ICOs and cryptocurrencies. If ever this is true, I think marketing ICOs and cryptocurrency will be lessened. Even if there's a lot of ways to promote, there's a lot of people using facebook and facebook is one of the best way to promote and to market anything.

It would not impact earnings from Bounty campaign or limit organic reach, it's just that you won't be able to do paid advertisement on the platform.

So the main problem would be to promote the ICO and run campaigns around the same.

In my opinion, they prohibit that it does not mean that they do not accept advertising from Cryptocurrencies, if all projects are willing to pay the payment does not mean they do not accept, maybe they intend to ask for a publishing fee, in order to add revenue from every project that puts ads on social media facebook ..

What is so hard to understand?Huh
They've banned ads on FB! Adds are already paid, it's simply FB saying that they don't need those scammers's money.
And good riddance!!!

No worries,It is not going to make any big impact on the crypto currency market.Because facebook just banned or restricted paid promotions of crypto currency advertisements but the individuals can post or share anything about crypto currency. So facebook bounties are also not in any problem.

I hope that soon FB will turn their eyes on that and start banning accounts spamming links after links.
It's already against their rules to do that so I won't be surprised if they start playing with the delete and ban hammer.

The effect will be massive and we might not see large entrants into the market as much as we want in the coming days. A lot of people got involved with crypto by virtue of what they see on social media and Facebook control majority of what people do on social media and when it affects Facebook, it then means Instagram is on with it and gradually might spread to Twitter and other social media sites.

This is a big blow happening at this time and I hope they have a rethink very soon because this ban will not only affect ICOs but also exchange sites, wallet providers, peer to peer sites and everything related to crypto.

It is obvious as of now crypto currencies are hardly regulated so many of them especially those who aren't able to raise enough funds turn out to be scam. Facebook just does affiliate but by promoting such links it is actually promoting the whole ICO and if they scam people will develop a negative attitude towards facebook. This is the reason why facebook has decided to reduce its advertisements related to crypto. However I feel this decision quite contradictory to a recent news which said the Mark Zuck is quite interested in cryptocurrencies and blockchain development and may step in this.

So, the advertisements:

The people who actually read facebook adverts will be affected. They will not be able to read one topic. People interested in bitcoin are already in. It is a known term in the financial industry since it's a breakthrough and many people, financially literate or not, have known about it. Those who are not financially educated have heard about it. No direct impact, I think it would only decrease curious people on facebook, and also decrease victims of fraud. I think it's a good decision overall.

As i understand they banned not only ICO advertisements, but they will ban fan pages and even private accounts when someone will write about cryptocurrencies. It is sick!

hi friends, with such a statement, I think it does have a bit of a powerful effect for an ICO who is using facebook as one of the media to advertise their products. but I think it will not be a big problem because there are many social media that have a great chance to serve as a media in developing product advertising.

This is bearish news for crypto market, because it shows that a big IT company doesn't trust ICO's. Smart people already know that ICO's and altcoins are most likely in a bubble that will burst when everyone will realize that they are just worthless scams, and this signal reinforces this prediction. Also, this will negatively affect Bitcoin, because people will think that all cryptocurrencies are junk, but in the long run Bitcoin will not be affected, because it's pretty easy to spot the differences that make Bitcoin trustworthy - it's an open-source project maintained by volunteers, as opposed to startups that desperately try to sell their coin.

Maybe the big reason behind is the BIG SCAM.
In my opinion many investors cheated by scam ICO project.
Almost everyday there is always new topic arises in altcoins section that the " project of_____ is Scam."
The effect will be huge most specially to ICO that have Facebook campaign. This is just what I think.

ya, that's the fact. For Facebook, the move is the latest attempt to protect the integrity of its advertising platform, which over the past 12 months has been under fire for enabling Russian propaganda and other inappropriate content.
