That's a wrong move from Facebook and its CEO and Founder, Mark Zuckerberg. Although ads are somehow irritating that it always shows up whenever you scroll on facebook, it will just only made companies, who advertises, a stop to their promotion of their products and services, which the Facebook is a great help for it. I hope they would still change their mind with regards to that.

Since popular social media networks like Reddit accept Bitcoin as trusted method of payment for their marketing services, to ban cryptocurrency ads on FB is quite a strange idea. Anyway, I cannot understand why they are so picky, when FB, the social media giant, has become an advertising network more than a social one.
In my opinion, FB is used more for marketing purposes than personal use. This segment of audience has migrated slowly, slowly to Instagram and other networks. So, taking a decision like this - to ban an advertising market like crypto on FB - doesn't seem to be the best for them.

I think Facebook reacts on all these negative news about scam ICOs, the company does not want to be responsible for it

In my opinion - this step is 100% right. There are a lot of scam ICOs now. And they promoting itself on such giants as facebook & instagram! Many people trust FB and when they see such ads, they just cant imagine that FB allows such SCAMs get promoting on FB platform.

wow .. this is one thing that hinders the communication of the altcoin in the market. Take away a lucrative market like facebook. But also reduce the number of fraudsters posted spam, scams, users are not satisfied. I think facebook does not allow ads for cryptocurrency to benefit bitcoin users. I believe the bitcoin price will not decrease due to this decision of facebook. There are many channels of communication to promote cryptocurrency.

At the onset it looks gloomy for btc's future but if you think about it, facebook has been a medium for a lot of scams and people who wants to take advantage of others. Fb ads aren't really that much of a help in making btc grow. People who wants to invest in crypto needs to look beyond facebook and do their research

The awareness from ICO scams has reached the FB admins. I wish Twitter might consider filtering their ads too, and most specially Google search engine. They must hire a group of people with a expertise in crypto, trading site and security. This would minimize the number of hacks created from fake sites.

Then what is the use of social media for them? If they are going to ban advertising ICOs? I know most of the advertisment in facebook are promising ICOs that can give you big return but why are they even banning this? I think this is a big mistake to their platform really really bad. There must be a inspection before having a ads to their page.

Another negativity about bitcoin, surely it is gonna make downfall in bitcoin price in the coming days.Already the bitcoin price falling under $10K and I am not sure how much it is gonna fall. But I don't know what are the reasons for banning bitcoin ads.Few days back Mark told that they are going to create a new crypto currency for facebook payments but now they are banning crypto currency ads.Everyone is afraid of bitcoin or just they want to control the growth of bitcoin.Whatever I will hold my bitcoins surely it is gonna be the future currency of this world. So investors don't panic it is maybe a another dump created by whales.
This thought came to me also as I woke up to this news. The thought that struck me was 'gang up' against cryptocurrency? Just last week, Facebook was considering an ICO or something. Now he is banning ads of bitcoin, ICO, and cryptocurrency. But what must have made him make this U turn?

it is good to advertise in facebook almost all over the world registered in facebook, but these advertising ICO's, HYIP bitcoins and cryptocurrencies are flooding because we don't know which is legit and some of them are scam especially the HYIP bitcons, I think they want to clean up their social media to prevent scamming innocent people.

I think this happened because bounty hunters part in all avialable campaigns and clog up pages.

This. When people over do things, it spoils it for others.

It's a bit like webpages in the 1990's with their blinking ads in your face everywhere - they prompted the rise of ad-blockers.

I have also read the post from coindesk. If ICO promotion is banned, how social media bounty hunters will promote in facebook? This news shocked me also.

Facebook said: "We hope that Facebook's ads allow people to discover and understand our latest products and services without having to worry about the risk of fraud or fraud." In many cases, companies and individuals through the ICO to raise funds is very non-standard, not safe. Regulators recently started taking drastic measures. This week the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) said it received a court order to freeze an ICO transaction on AriseBank, the world's first cryptocurrency bank.

Facebook will work to understand which ads are deceptive or misleading, and gradually promote the policy. Facebook, including its other platforms, including Instagram, will not allow ads like "buy bitcoins with your retirement fund!"

Yes. I think that this result will be affects the Bitcoin's price. But, I think that it will not happen. Facebook is getting a lot of profits by advertising and be visited its own site and advertising Bitcoin, altcoins and ICO's will help Facebook to get a lot of money. If Mark zuckerberg's profit will be affected on it, Well He does not wanted to implement this rules on his own site because He is also a Bitcoin supporter and an earner.

It is not just Bitcoin and ICO's. They have reviewed many of their business practices and they are getting a new face lift for Facebook. A friend of mine are breeding with dogs and used to advertise these dogs on Facebook, but recent changes has even stopped them from advertising animals for sale.

They are even becoming more transparent regarding the use of people's private data and what they do with that. People should just use other methods to do this.

I also have noticed that Facebook is banning sharing of ICO links on your page. I have been complaining it and reporting that my posts are not spam. They have never reposted the link after reporting it is not spam.

I believe they are doing it business wise since they have ads and promotions (which is paid of course).  Facebook also has recently launch the “marketplace”.
Since Facebook is the most popular and widely used by people, it is a great tool to spread product thus the ICOs. The ICOs, instead of paying Facebook to advertise (although some pays for the ads), they are getting known through shares and likes.

One other thing I could think of is security. There are ICOs that appear to be scams. There are also posts that may contain malicious links or shortened links. We can’t really tell.
