Facebook is warned about ban in Russia for not be conformed with the 242 Law about Data storage of Russian Users. Ban can be esequted in 2018. The law is compulsory for all,” the head of Roskomnadzor telecoms watchdog Alexander Zharov told journalists in Moscow. There are no exceptions here,” he added. Russian internet providers last year blocked the LinkedIn professional networking site after Roskomnadzor said it broke the law on personal data storage.

I don't think they'll really do that. May be Russia is not a very big market for Facebook, but there are many users still.

Zuckerberg is doing the wrong thing by mixing politics in to social media. Earlier he was accused of giving undue importance for anti-Russian news articles in the Facebook news-feed. And my guess it that this is the real reason behind the ban attempt rather than the storage of user-data.

Russia will block access to Facebook next year unless the social network complies with a law that requires websites which store the personal data of Russian citizens to do so on Russian servers, Russian news agencies reported on Tuesday.

amendments to the law "On Personal Data", which require localization of personal data in the territory of Russia. Any Russian or foreign company focused on working with Russian users should ensure the recording, systematization, accumulation, storage, specification of personal data of Russians using databases located on the territory of the Russian Federation.

The updated law revises the very concept of personal data. Now it is not only the name and, for example, the address and year of birth, but any information related to the natural person it defines.

Zharov said authorities would continue efforts to persuade Facebook to move its servers into Russia, otherwise, he said, the company would stop providing services in the country.

And looks that companies like Facebook and Google are not planing to mover their servers to Russia and provide all information about their users.

Google and Apple are OK with this Law from 2015.

That's a bit diferent thing. In other countries there also was similar cases against Google for abuse of search market dominance and similar things. And Google was fined by EU recently.
And looks that companies like Facebook and Google are not planing to mover their servers to Russia and provide all information about their users.

In recent years it's not first rumours that Facebook can be banned in Russia. Well, time will tell, how serious are these plans.
I think that such laws are only leads to censore of internet. By same pretext they also can ban Google and other international internet companies. And such bans will result increased dominant position of Russian networks such as VK and Yandex, which are fully controled by russian institutions.
