Fantasy is a broad term. Did you meant it to be something like daydreaming? I bet a lot of people do that on a daily basis.

My take on this is that fantasy is merely what is not real now. You may be fantasizing that you're uber rich but unless you act on that by setting goals, it remains a fantasy.

Obviously some fantasy would never become a reality, no matter how hard you try to. In certain cases, you might have to settle for something else. You can't fly with wings but you can try becoming a real life Ironman (which in itself already require a lot of resources to translate to reality).

Science theory is fantasy that has a chance to become reality. When it is proven factual and true, it crosses the line from fantasy into reality, even though its object was real all along.

Cool

Science fiction inspires reality. Many technologies we have now were fantasies of people in the past. They'd probably be giddy to see an Apple watch. People first fantasize about stuff and then they try to see if it's possible. Many people have fantasized about teleporters and now people are busily looking at spooky action if that might make it come true.

I fantasize a lot and most of them are ,, you know maybe my name would give you a clue,
And also I really like your quote we need fantasy to survive because reality is too difficult,
Seems true it is really difficult in reality,
And yeah pleasure may come from illusion,But happiness can come only of reality.
So we should accept the fact that no matter how hard life is there will always be a reason to smile and continue living.

We are an creative and imaginative beings by nature. We fantasize about things which we cannot act upon in reality. Let's split the question.

1. What''s the difference between fantasy and reality in your opinion, do not tell me you have never fantasized about anything?

2. Does your imagination/or your fantasy influence your decisions in reality?

3. What do you think, is holding on to your fantasy would make you successful or embracing the reality and surrendering to it is the way of success?

I would have used dream instead of fantasy, but dreaming is a subconscious process which we do not have much control upon, but fantasizing is a conscious process where we purposefully/deliberately think that this thing could have been like this rather than that.

Another thing, fantasy here is not in the NSFW sense, it is more like reality vs your thought process or what you think should be real.

These quotes would be more helpful.

Well I really think that you are right about the quote that we need fantasy to survive and happiness can only come in reality,
And for me fantasizing something is not bad but we should always remember to separate our illusion in our real world.

Reality is where we're hit hard by what's really going on. Fantasy is where you get everything working for you which doesn't really happen almost all the time. As you grow up, you tend to realize that fantasy is what it is, mostly for our childhood days that usually disappear as we grow old.

1.Fantasy, It is where we can get or experience our dreams that are unable to happen in reality. I think it's a bad thing in some reasons because we are convincing ourselves in a situation that isn't going to be happen.

2. It somehow affects my desicion in a way that it serves like my inspiration in getting across the reality.

3.Obviously we shoudn't get too much attached to our fantasy because it is simply labeled as our FANTASY and we all know that its not going to be happen. We shold use our fantasy as our inspiration, inspiration to face the reality.

I think it is better to call it a dream than fantasy cause a dream means your working on it as your current goal and working hard on it to make it reality not just a dream. Fantasy is more like just imagining without any effort and doesn't do any thing to make happen your just trap in your own world unable to move forward in his imagination. A dream helps people to move forward and to achieve what he really wants it acts like a tool of motivation to keep pushing forward no matter it takes but also keep in mind that not all hardwork pays off.

Fantasies help to forget something bad and improve the mood. It's like diving for a while in a fairy tale of cruel reality.

Fantasies are good, they help to set goals and achieve them. A man who does not fantasize makes his way difficult.
Imagination remind me more of the dream. In order to achieve your goal you need to work hard. When you fantasize, you just reach without effort. On the contrary it distracts the person from the strategies to achieve your goal.

Fantasy will remain what it is which is wishful thinking that is not backed by action. Reality on the other hand is what something can be done about because that is something one can neither run away from nor wake up from. In my own case, I try to limit my fantasising moments because its just purr waste of time in which possibilities of achieving is zero to none. But focus on reality that can change my status to the next level.

1. Fantasy is the meanest ideology of our mind, or we must say that this are the dreams that certainly won't come true. Reality is the sad truth of human's existence.

2. At some point in time imaginations do help in terms of decision making and somehow it also define why this reality is much more complex that it suppose to be.

3. We need to wake up from this fantasies and be more realistic. We can't live with just fantasizing food, and Life at some point would be so harsh to us that even our imaginations will show the reality of this world.

I like the quotes.

Fantasies come from feelings. If we did not have the capability to fantasize, we would still have those feelings. Sometimes those feeling are not good at all, so fantasizing about them keeps us from acting on them and changing our reality in a negative way.

That's my take on it.

Are you real, or just a figment of my imagination?  Grin

I think with 1, it obviously have to obey certain rules. You may believe you can fly but sadly the ground has other plans for you. Of course it gets tricky if you actually questioning whether you are living in reality or you entire existence is some sort of hallucination (maybe you're in coma and you're reading this comment in your imagination, etc).

Now assuming you're just referring to fantasy as some sort of daydreaming, fantasy would be something that would probably happen "in your wildest dreams".   Tongue Me thinking of eating out in a luxury restaurant is not high fantasy enough... unlikely to happen now but I might save up a bit and try to eat there. Me having a date with a Hollywood A lister - totally delusional fantasy.  Grin

2 would definitely play a part in people's live, although the portion would differ per person. "Imagination" would be a broad term to use here. You can for example imagine a future you want for yourself and work towards that. Of course reality will wake you up sooner or later. You can  fantasize all you want what you would do if you are president, but unless you're rich and famous, good luck with that.

For 3, you have to be realistic. No need to not fantasize stuff but focus on those that are "in sync" with reality. You may have always wanted to be a ballerina, but is it realistic if you are already in your 30s?
