Damon Albarn is one of my personal heros of the last two decades.

This guy went nuts after the first albums with britpop band Blur.
Founder of Gorillaz together with his buddy Jamie Hewlett (comic-strip artist) involving a wide variety of artists.
contributed songs to soundtracks of several movies (eg 101 Reykjavic, Ordinary decent criminal, Trainspotting etc)
collabo with African artists (DRC Music - Kinshasa One Two)
collabo "Mali Music" with musicians from Mali.
created chinese opera "Monkey: Journey to the West" with chinese director and actor Chen Shi-zheng and again Jamie Hewlett
side project "The Good, The Bad & the Queen" (former Clash bassist Paul Simonon, The Verve/Gorillaz guitarist Simon Tong, drummer Tony Allen) produced by Dj Dangermouse
side project "Rocket Juice & the Moon" featuring Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea and afrobeat legend Tony Allen
created english opera "Dr Dee" with director Rufus Norris (inspired by author Alan Moore)
produced soul singer Bobby Womack's third album "The Bravest Man In The Universe"
has worked with artists like Massive Attack, Dan the Automator, Del tha funky Homosapien, Kid Koala, Fatboy Slim...

not to forget the ingenuity of blur's and gorillaz' albums on their own.
I hope his globally stretched musical odyssey keeps going on in that pace, he made so much innovative sound until now that it could easily fill life's work of two or three artists.

Great to see another fan; he was actually my very first favorite musician, back when I was maybe 12 years old, when I'd fallen in love with Gorillaz, and I've been following him ever since.  The man's some kind of genius, that's for sure.  I especially like the work he did in Ravenous.
shit, totally forgot Ravenous ost. haven't listened to it for a while now.

I also listen to this guy since my sister gave me the first albums of Blur when I was 13.
Everytime I hear new stuff I'm fascinated what a versatile artist he is.
"Plastic Beach" is still the album of the last decade for me that reflects the zeitgeist of our time the best. I always compare it to the ground-breaking Sgt. Peppers-album by the Beatles.
So many different music styles and different ages mixed together in one brilliant brew.
If you haven't checked it out yet, listen to the albums of Blur...it's interesting how Damon got more and more experimental on the later ones.
