Haha. Just out of curiousity, if you're willing to share. How much did you mine at the start?
I found 12 blocks just in the first hour. It got rapidly slower though. The amount of orphaned blocks was huge (>99%). I regret that I didn't go on for a lot longer.

I was lucky to spot the announcement within half an hour. Mined quite a lot of coins in the following hours. All I'll do now is wait until the price is high enough to sell them.

I'd also consider buying some for BTC as soon as my stuff gets from btc-e to gox. I hate the idea of buying something with 0 value for real money, but it might be worth it later.

I'm gonna put about 2.3 Mh/sec behind it today for a few days (once my other 7950's arrive today!!!). If it does take off, I think it would be good to have quite a few coins Smiley

From what I see and what I've read in the primary thread it is meant to be an alt alt coin as in LTC is becoming a well-known and trusted coin and FC is an offshoot of that not meant to overtake LTC but to accompany it. I just hope scrypt coins stay relevant to mine for the normal everyday guys so that we can still earn a decent buck on our hardware without combating the ASICs that are currently dominating SHA-256 coins.

I've been around for a while but I have been mostly in the shadows.

I was on the PPCoin bandwagon when it first came out.

I also, felt like, there was some design flaws within it and I did not hold onto PPC or the idea for much longer.
However, I did like seeing innovation being done with cryptocurrency, and I lacked the thought that any flaws could be ironed out with later fixes.

Given the obvious current market rates, it was a mistake selling off all PPC and letting go of it at that time. (But of course BTC's value has skyrocketed since then also)

Anyway, I'm just curious what exactly is all the hype with this new FeatherCoin.
If it were the peoples choice in alt-cryptocurrency, I wouldn't have any FUD about.

But I kind of feel like it offers absolutely nothing new or improved from litecoin. Only block reward was increased from 50 coin to 200 coin.

NovaCoin is also a new coin.. I feel this one has more grounds for improvement. It has PoW+PoS along with scrypt etc.
It is basically a scrypt based PPC.

Maybe one, both or none of these will hold up in the future. If I had to guess, I would say NovaCoin should beat out FeatherCoin by design.
I suppose the momentum with FeatherCoin can be attributed to the 'early adopter' attitude and the fact that the difficulty is so low.
When value and difficulty square off, where is the coin going to go? Bubble burst?

Honestly, I am mining some FC right now. I am also trying to mine some NVC, I will probably move back to NVC soon because I believe more in the structure.
One downside to NVC is the 100k+coin premine, which was destroyed.

Of course I don't see these 2 (NVC,FC) as viable long term so I probably won't mine these myself for more than a month. I see BTC as the most solid, even if it doesn't reap the most profits from mining BTC directly. But even Litecoin should hold more value than these other coins (NVC,FC). It is more profitable for gpu to be on alt currency and trade back for higher amount of bitcoin.
