It may be a while (months?) until retarget but when it does, it should be super easy to mine for a few days Smiley

Everytime I look at the time for retarget on Feathercoin Diff calc its more every day

At this rate it will be next year !!

Is this by design and can someone explain it to me ..

BTW I really like the FTC\LTC mining combo as a good option for GPU miners ...just hope the diff will change some time in this century Cheesy

I don't seem to have post privileges on the feathercoin forums, but Bushstar posted the updated client, and when I click on the link, I get an invalid https certificate error, and have to remove the s, http:// worked.

Just thought I'd mention it as there was no mention in the thread..

CH has accepted my live alt currency debate challenge:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=196173.60

We'll work out all the details over the next few weeks, I understand he's incredibly busy as am I.  This will be a **respectful ** exchange and look forward to help bringing additional attention to alt currencies such as Feathercoin.  I look to work with different online publications and help promote the debate.  Thankfully with all the great talent in the FTC board, I know there will be people willing to help me make it work.

I've asked that all parties remain respectful.

I have so much confidence in this community, it's like breathing speaking about all your successes.

Are there any guides out there for setting up a p2pool for feathercoin. I run p2pool for litecoin, but cant figure out how to get it to work with feathercoin.
Also guides how to set up an own p2pool for several users? how to solve the payout/share part internally.

Have 60Mbits fiberline/high quality network equipment/power protection and so on, hosting a p2pool would hopefully yield a stable solution=)

i will talk for myself of that one, i dont go in pool too much fee and no thx i will not give another pool owner my coin. p2pool or nothing even if its slow to make coin. i just asked about a nice .exe because there is much people who dont speak english that want one but dont know how to make, much people dont know much about computer but not stupid enough to go in a pool where the owner can always use all word in the world to say he is sorry but the coin will still be away like its the case in the owner pocket.

That's not how p2pool works. Payouts are instant when a block is found on the pool.
Only thing is there might be a fee, which you can easy check yourself but writing /fee in address field

Your talking about pushpool, its not the same pool software

i know is not p2pool when i talk about pool owner and fee or coin away.

99% of all people who ask to me about p2pool its for the same error:

collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1

and of what i know not much people will go over all what it take to insall p2pool. sorry maybe you know much with computer but you are not alone in the world.

I will write a complete guide when I have time. It's actually very easy when you know which files you need to install
But sadly I could only get it to run on python x86 (not 64 bit)
Still works on win 7 64 through

you can still mine at tailfeather.cc - there is still some hashing power left, even though its not 100.000 kHash anymore

yeah that nice p2pool thing to install 60 000 click later and fail.....until people understand that thing can not be installed on win7 x64 but maybe one day someone will make like many other coin with a .exe who know.

¤¿¤

Running it on win7 x64 (and ubuntu and WHS11)

So yes p2pool can run on windows, just takes a little bit of time to install all needed stuff

can someone explain to me why the retarget time is so high?
it seems everyone is jumping ship due to current diff of 188 and expected diff of 50.
why mine at 188 when it will become 50 later.
that will ultimately change the value of each coin.
better to mine other like litecoin

also isnt the target time pr block 2,5min? now its average 9min.

all this factors shows that the network hash has gone from 5500 to 2500(the big starthype at btc-e)
and now from 2500 to 1300 due to difficulty variation.

re-target is high because hashpower went way down, people mined cnc after ftc and probably now mining ltc

i understand that. what i dont understand is why theres over 12days between retargets?
ltc has about 3 days

The difficulty changes so that we end up with 2.5 minutes a block. This adjust happens every 2016 blocks and in between it is possible for blocks to be processed faster or slower depending on the number of miners and luck of course. So when miners left to go to ChinaCoin this slowed down block processing. However when the difficulty comes down those of us who believe in Feathercoin can look to mine some easier coins. Other coins have been in this position many times before, there is no need to worry.

Ah of course, the retarget is set to block number, forgot about that. that explains the length of retarget time.

Other coins fixed it though too.

GRouPcoin and DeVCoin for example.

From the sound of it litecoin maybe only used a smaller retarget period?

(I read somewhere that smaller periods have problems of their own, basically enabling a difficulty roller-coaster exploit to operate faster and more effectively.)
