So by your own admission you have little knowledge about bitcoin and you apologize for your bad grammar--and for some inexplicable reason you're "sad" because you're not at the rank you think you should be at.

I just rank up today at 70 activity but still I'm a Junior member because my merits are not enough, so I feel so sad..because honestly I'm having hard time earning it. I don't have much knowledge in bitcoin though I research but not all sink in my mind so its really hard for me to earn merit.. Is there any other way to earn merit except for quality posts? You're not the only one. There are tons of user like you feeling that they will be stuck at their current rank because of the merit system but what they don't realize how the system will benefit them in the long run.My advice for starters, avoid staying at "Bitcoin Discussion". I'm not saying all threads there are all useless but most of it is since it is mostly made out of newbies who have no initiative to do his/her own research first. Then put a lot of effort on researching about interesting topics that you can share or answer some topics in the threads that will be really helpful not only to the OP but for other members as well.

By close observations, a person can clearly see that the majority of the people on this forum don't even know what a quality post is. Most of them think "more characters = higher post quality", and just because of this false assumption they start making much more longer and way more useless posts to make them look like quality posts, while the quality of a post has nothing to do with its quantity of length.

I feel the same with you dude. I think its very very hard to get merits. Can people use their time to click our comments and give us merit. Im seeing a jr memver has 100+ activity but 0 merit. Even we tried to give the best we can. Other commenting its easy if you are good in making topic. Hope its true when i got knowledge about crypto and post helpful topics

You already got 5 merit points and this means that you have completed half the journey towards next rank (member). If you keep posting good quality posts, you will easily achieve the member rank in 1-2 months. You can utilize that time to sharpen your knowledge about bitcoins so that you make better investment decisions.
Regarding, other ways to get merit points, there are some ways but they are not ethical. Some members here are involved in buying / selling of merit points and they are getting recognized now and being punished by senior members.
I wish someone would give me some merits, I honestly think I deserve some merits. If anyone gave that to me, I would have used it very very wisely. I wish to give my merits to those who haven't earned any. I won't wait for a second to give my merits to others. Hope everyone benefits from this new merit system. And nobody starts to trade it.

First of all, do not get disappointed so easily. You have already achieved 5 merit points and thus reached halfway. You are still doing better than a lot of new members who have not got a single merit. Regarding getting merits for ways other than quality posts, you can try making good compilation of threads related to particular topic. Choose a topic which is not covered already.

I think you (and all of users in the forum) should focus on the positive effects of merit system on the forum in long-term aspect. Theymos have no choice about this one. The forum covered with tons of shit-posts recently before the launch of merit system. Since the exponential growth of whole crypto market last year (year of 2017), more and more newcomers joined the forum, most of them joined to get free money and made this forum like to shit-show.
I strongly support merit system, despite the fact that I will be harder to ranked up after its launch.
If you think that you studied hars to earn some merits and still dont get what you want, try to study more harder than before to get your target, and I think expecting merit in return by helping some people and posting high quality content is a wrong move.
In my own opinion even in real life try to do great things and never expect anything in return, just like here just keep on making quality content and help others but dont expect merit in return, dont find merits, let merit finds you. Best of luck bud!

However, the fact is merits will come later, suddenly (some hours, some days, or some weeks, might be months after the time users published their threads). Simply, you should believe in yourself, learn more about Bitcoin and other fields , improve your behaviour ( quality of post..), and then you will get what you need to rank up. As well, I see that you need only 5 merit's to become a Member. So you can do it easily and just trust in yourself.

I'm feeling the same. Im not the one to judge my posts/comments but sometimes I was the pioneer in some news and got no merit from it. That's sad. In Economics section I'm kinda active and even with contributions around macroeconomics I still got no merit.

Yeah, why does he need to rank up anyways? To earn money from signatures, I'm sure. Nothing wrong with that, I mean I have one myself but people shouldn't expect ''free'' money. Ranking up is a bit like holding Bitcoin you just need to be patient, and eventually will be rewarded.

Just hang in there. I know I shouldn't invalidate what you feel, but you don't have to feel sad. Compared to other Jr. Members, you're lucky that you were able to earn half of the merits that is required for you to rank up. You're halfway there, you just have to be more patient and be more persistent. Earning merits is not impossible and this is proven by you receiving some. So rather than being sad, just continue to do your best. There are more merit sources now so sooner or later you would get what you need to rank up, just make sure that you do your part so that you'll desevlrve bearing merits. If you think you need them right away, then maybe you can join some merit giveaways and contests. Good luck!

I am hitting nearly 300 posts, but I am happy with Merit system. It makes sense and really does cut down the drivel in this forum.
I do believe that they are hard to achieve and the formula they use does suggest there is only a limited amount which is not the best way.
It needs tweaking but it is a pretty good idea.

Without mincing words, I see we are beginning to see more of spamming this forum with more of merit and no merit discussion. The merit system was for a purpose. It was to especially ensure that some useless, incoherent and destined for the trash bin post don't get anywhere. You only need 5 more to rank up and you are complaining. What about users who have none or need like 100plus and are no doubt making very good and meritable post ? And , yet they don't get to be awarded such.
Please, there are other threads already opened on merit system, kindly use those existing thread to make your contribution next time. Virtually every member rank is feeling what you are complaining about except legendary members that are smiling for now.
My point therefore is, we just do our legitimate due (quality post ) to the forum and allow the mods be the referees.

Don't get worry buddy. It's very easy to get the merits. Just make some quality posts, you automatically get lot of merits from the senior members in this forum. In this forum there are lot of high rank members with huge merits to send to others.If you make quality post,for a single post you will get more merits.

I just rank up today at 70 activity but still I'm a Junior member because my merits are not enough, so I feel so depressed.. Do you think this merit thing will get lost in the future of bitcointalk? because honestly I'm having hard time earning it. I don't have much knowledge in bitcoin though I research but not all sink in my mind so its really hard for me to earn merit.. Is there any other way to earn merit except for quality posts? of course there are, you can participate in bounty companies or airdrops, where you can get free promising coins, and then trade them on the exchange, watch the news of them very much in the telegraph ... all relevant and reliable.

To get a merit just one way: you should learn more about Bitcoin or cryptocurrency and post in this thread posting high quality and usable information for other people. if your posting usable and very interest I think another member in Bitcointalk will give you merit. So Good Luck!!!
We all started from the bottom line, in fact what do you need to rank up for? If you just want to ranked up to gain money or even joining bounties then you need to prove yourself that you're worthy to gain it. The merit system was implemented to insure that there is no trash topic and spamming in this forum so in that case if you really worthed to ranked up then you don't have to worry.
Moreover i think there are lots of topic asking about merit and this kind of topic more like spamming the forum and even more like asking for charity. I don't suprise if this topic make its way into trash can. No offense but if you want more merit then you should consider posting more quality topic or don't post at all if you don't think you capable at the moment. Its just asking people to dislike you more.

All of us in here now are having time to rank up now. Because of that merit thing. It making hard to please the people around. Some need to ask and beg for their friend to give them. I don't know how long will I stay being full members here because of that merit. I posted a lot in here but still my merit stuck to 100.

I think the overall impact of the merit system is positive for this forum. For most of us it will take longer to get to upper ranks and will depend on our skills, rather than, just seniority.

I do not think it's just you. almost all members find it difficult to get merit. it takes hard work and sharing knowledge in every opportunity. the rest let others who judge, proper or not post we make. most importantly, you always try and keep trying until you really have enough knowledge and quality.

All of us started small since from newbies. I can say that be patient. The technique there is to be positive, do research, read a lot and be motivated that there is a good profit waiting after the hard work.

I think that you underestimate yourself. You already have 5 merits, it remains to receive another 5 and you will become a member. I should have already become a member too, but I have not yet received enough merits. It pushes me to strive to improve the quality of my posts, write more grammatically and interestingly. Be patient. Everything comes in time to the one who can wait.

I agree that it is very difficult to acquire the merit system but I think we just have to work on it and we don't have the choice except to follow the rules. There are situation that we are given S'Merits that we could share to somebody that truly deserve for a merit and I hope also that this will be back again.
Agree with you! All we have to do is to follow the rules and regulations being imposed by the organizers because at the end this is for the good of all of us bitcoin users. For now lets just be patient enough in everything we do, we do not know what's their plans ahead so better wait and see and hope for the best thing to happen. What matters is there is still an opportunity for Jr Member, just continue to have quality and constructive post.

Then learn more, I am the same as you. I must be a senior member. But actually if you really make a good post in this forum that help many people I think you will get merits from legendary members who actually don't really need merits anymore.
