Somebody should make an "intellectual like button", so the users wanting to press "like" needs to do some actual mental effort to be able to pull it off. I reckon facebook would quickly become less popular. And what about a hate button. Does everybody really like everything?
If somebody with a lot of facebook friends posted a image of a dead cat and claimed he just killed his cat, I'm sure he would get at least a couple of likes if he had 1000 friends. Also, it's quite wrong to display who liked something. Not only is facebook spying on you, but your friends can also spy on you.
AHA - so you liked that "insert some hideous stuff here" on facebook yesterday, what a c**t you are!!! Personally, when I was on facebook previously, I was even reluctant to click on "like", as somebody else could see what I liked. I'm sure there's some algorithm sitting in some dark computer room harvesting all your likes and combining it with other datapoints to see if you're a "person of interest". Wonder how many of the facebook users who think about that. Oh that's right - the only thing they think about is to getting their paycheck so they can buy the newest xbox game.
