France have also put in efforts too, the both teams have, so i don't believe a winner would be decided on that. Most people supporting Argentina do so because they want Messi to finally win the world cup which he deserves, it would be great if Messi can achieve that which may make him the greatest footballer of all time. But France do not care about that, they also have their own history to make and they will be out to achieve it, many of them who were with the team in 2018 are set to win their second world cup in a row, it is fantastic. I would be happy with whichever team that wins, though i know most of the world would be happier if Argentina wins it, because of the great Lionel Messi.

France can still keep that information private before the game, but ultimately they will have to confirm which players they will bring on without health issues or anything like that. I wish them all the best, but if a lot of their main players drop out then somehow I would think the chances of an Argentina win will increase.
We will find out how many players are out due to the flu, but of course this news will benefit Argentina.

As for the finals, I get it that Argentina, Fifa and even the Qatari hosts wants this trophy for L. Messi but, its very unlikely for Argentina to win this cup.
