I think that Brazil, Argentina, Spain and Germany are favorites on this World cup!

All of those teams are in my World Cup Fantasy Football selection. Obviously I had to pick some lower seeded teams to balance out the top seeds, but I think that all four will do well - until they meet!

No love for Danny Welbeck?

Danny Welbeck is an average player. He can't be compared to all time greats such as Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo. Moreover, it is almost certain that England will not go past the group stage.  Grin

Of course he can't be compared to them, few can. Welbeck and Rooney for that matter haven't had a great build up to the Finals with respect to the friendlies.

I think that England will progress to the next stage, and then onto the Quarters, but that will likely be the end of the road unless they really pull together.

Any thoughts on who will be the top goalscorer? We've got Messi as a slight favourite over Neymar: http://cbet.ly/1xqpZBp

I'd have gone with Luis Suarez if he was fully fit. For now, it seems that I'll have to put my weight behind Lionel Messi. Mario Balotelli is also an outside possibility... but everything will depend on his emotions.

that's what I'm saying
you need a team to play well, C.R plays for himself not for the team..
he doesn't pass the ball enough, he's too cocky

True he play only for himself think that he can take hole team by himself.

I give very big chances to Croatian team to win in opening game, Brazil despoilment me with there last night game with Serbia they win with lucky goal.
yeah me too, i bet for croatia for opening game
they have a big chance to halt brazil, either draw even wiin the game
opening game usually give us surprise result Grin

If Ronaldo is going just for himself then I sure they are not going in last 8 because this need all team effort not personal game

Struggling you are right but still playing very positive and spirited game and they have some outside chance to reach in last 4

Portugal are one of those teams that people like to watch given some of the superstars that they have had in their teams in recent years, Figo and Ronaldo being two of the obvious ones. Yet they always seem to falter in the really big games.

because they have only 1 big name in the team, Portugal is an above average team but nothing much

btw Danijel Pranić got injured in the friendlies, that's the 2nd player that Croatia is losing on the same position Cheesy (Pranjić replaced Strinić)

But you don't need big names to do well in a tournament, though you do need a good 'team'. By team I mean the cooperation, drive and organisation. South Korea did really well when they co-hosted the World Cup in 2002, Greece won the Euros when they were hosted, ironically, in Portugal 2004.

If Portugal come with a game plan then they can do well. They are in a fairly troublesome group, though I think that they can progress.

Yeah he does moan when he doesn't get his way. All he needs is a team and coach that can enable him and he is devastating. He can't do everything.
