Like I said in my comment on another thread, this match finals between Argentina and France is one that must be won by Argentina, this is because carrying this world cup home is not just important to Argentina, but also even much more important to Messi himself, this will probably be his last time in a world cup as I learnt that he is preparing to retire, winning this cup for his country would be a good way to say good bye to football as he hangs his boots.

They are not playing against each other, Mbappe will be fighting Argentina defence, and Messi will fight against French defence. Which means that they could both have great games and doesn't make one or the other worse. I feel like Messi will play better than Mbappe, because Mbappe got too used to playing at striker position in PSG whereas he is left wing at France so there is a difference he goes back to adjust, he is used to that too but not entirely.

However, France attacking players will play better than Argentina ones, and that will result with a goal from Messi, but probably more goals from France. I hope Messi ends up with a cup, that would be very sweet retirement, France could always win later next time around with this team.

@Sithara007 while you’re discussing about Messi and Mbappe you’ll conveniently forgot about Benzema, and if he turns up then France will have the upper hand. Furthermore Messi can definitely inspire his team, but in the end I feel that France are stronger and can definitely defeat Messi’s Argentina and the only way Argentina can win is if they can neutralise France attacking player’s but I doubt that they can stop them from scoring goals.

I'm not so sure you can just count Argentina out. You do t think Messi is going to want this as part of his lifetime resume. This will be a well played match with both teams having a great chance to win. Would love to see a shootout to cap it all.
