Let's hope all these world war tensions get cool off and we have a peaceful land for our humanity. Only then we can have preparation for the FIFA world cup and the people involved in these tournaments. Just like the sporting events were cancelled due to covid pandemic, the 2026 world cup may be postponed if the world is in the world war crisis. Keeping an eye on political affairs and things unfolding in near future.

But I think the current war will have an impact on the 2026 World Cup. Even though the Middle East conflict is between Palestine and Israel, this war also brings the names of allied countries such as the United States. I think this war will have a lot of influence geopolitically. It is possible that the 2026 World Cup will be postponed if this war spreads and becomes a global crisis.

That is self-explanatory, isn't it? If a world war breaks out, like a serious world war with tens of millions of soldiers being involved and artillery firing all over the planet, of course there won't be any major events like a World Cup or the Olympics and maybe not any sports events at all. But if it is as it is, there have been wars during all the World Cups and Olympics, but the difference now is that media is more involved and these wars exhibit more proximity to people who haven't been as involved in wars before. But if it goes on like this, the Qatar World Cup took place despite Russia reducing Ukraine to rubble and ashes and the same way the World Cup 2026 will take place when there is war in the Gaza Strip. Unless there isn't a second Pearl Harbor, the World Cup is going to take place.

LOL.. World Cup getting postponed as a result of war? That is not even remotely possible. First of all, the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has been limited to these two countries. Western nations haven't stepped in directly, although they are sending weapons, equipment and mercenaries to support Russia. Similarly, Russia's allies (Iran, DPRK and China) have also refrained from intervening in a direct manner. The same is applicable for Hamas vs Israel war. No one wants to get directly involved. Even pro-Hamas nations such as Qatar and Turkey have shown remarkable restraint.

I see!! The bad economic situation in most countries is making them to avoid spending on luxury like hosting the world cup. But there are other financial benefits of host the world cup that many nations can take advantage of. Nations don't also need spend lavishly to host the World Cup and some countries have the infrastructure that could be used to host the World Cup. The world cup is an important competition that should not be monitized. The football games is just as an aspect of the competition there are other areas like tourism and other social activities. And these societies don't encourage tourism because of the complexities of these nations. If only oil-rich gulf nations will end up becoming the only available host of the World Cup, then there is a big problem.

The United States is hosting FIFA World Cup in 2026. And in 2030, it is the turn of Morocco, Portugal and Spain. So it is not like only the oil-rich countries are hosting the event. I was talking about the general trend that I observed during the last decade or so. For the 2034 edition, Saudi Arabia was the only bidder. Australia was interested earlier, but they pulled out as a result of poor financial conditions back home. And we don't have any idea on who will be hosting the tournament in 2038. The bidding may happen only by 2030.

The constantly changing conditions worldwide with Russia Ukraine and Gaza War, we never know what things be like in 2030 and beyond. It is hard to imagine the world situation at that time so we really can't guess who will be hosting 2034 FIFA world cup. Since Saudi Arabia comes very near to the Gaza Region where there is on-going war, maybe they had to withdraw from their bid too.

Let's hope all these world war tensions get cool off and we have a peaceful land for our humanity. Hey everyone
I'm not going to create a thread just for this and don't want to become off topic, mas this is huge news
FIFA has just announced that Saudi Arabia will host the 2034 World Cup after Australia withdrew its bid

Source

I would have preferred the 2034 World Cup to be in Australia, but it seemed inevitable that it would be in Arabia after all the investment they've put into soccer

Its first time for Saudi Arabia become host of World Cup and interested with the only one country as host difference with edition of World Cup 2026 with three countries and edition on 2030. I think final host of FIFA World Cup 2034 in Saudi Arabia depend on other candidate such as Australia withdrew their planning to be host in 2034 and automatically the Asian countries have choose as host for that edition. Saudi Arabia have much investment in football after spending much money for signing top European players, they have build most expensive league due many player with large salary payment.

In Saudi Arabia have the same weather Qatar as hot temperature, will the match moving up than usually play on middle years as June to July and playing to end years of December?

Big news but not really so surprising? The FIFA only cares about one thing and that is money. Saudi Arabia has the money and we will probably see some more major sport events being hosted by countries like Saudi Arabia in the near future. Not the biggest fan of this evolution but seems unavoidable.
I think on the contrary, what FIFA considers the most is one who has the infrastructure and are capable enough to host the cup is what they usually look for includes an economically stable and security stable nations aswell but this does not mean these countries are perfect.

They would usually have a standard with which these requirements are measured and if met could be considered, Ina s much as FIFA wants an all inclusive participating in hosting, they are also careful to not risk jeopardizing the event aswell so it's very possible they may refuse to host in certain locations for lack of these requirements because it very necessary so bit the host and the hosted enjoys the game.
After the football world governing body FIFA awarded the 2034 FIFA World Cup tournament to Saudi Arabia, a lot of reports has been flying around the media space which one of them is that the decision to award the middle East country the World Cup was influenced by money. I think most of the people who are publishing these wrong narratives are the Western world who are fighting against the Islamic country from hosting the WC as a result of their cultural differences. Again the LGBTQ community knows that the country doesn't accept them and their practices.

It is the FIFA World Cup and hosting it in any country of the world where peace and security of players and fans of the participating countries are assured shouldn't be a problem for crying out loud.

With the confirmation of the 2034 World cup being hosted by Saudi Arabia we can say, Saudi Arabia has some serious football develop project on his hand, i dont know if they can ended be a good national team or a football of football, but they are putting a big effort on that, for me 2034 are 11!! years ahead, so many things can change and happen.
26th World Cup will be held by three countries, 30th World Cup will probably be hosted by Argentina and 34th World Cup will be held by Saudi Arabia, it is certain that we have already got three World Cups guaranteed. Saudi Arabia has tried as hard as Qatar to host the football World Cup in their country and they have finally succeeded, although of late they have definitely added their name to the race to host the World Cup tournament.

In 2034, for the first time, Saudi Arabia will host a major tournament like the World Cup in their country. Saudi Arabia has already started working on football and since they got the ticket to host the football world cup, they will start making preparations from now.
Just like Qatar hosted a great World Cup by surprise, Saudi Arabia might host the 2034 World Cup in a better way.
I mean 11 years is enough to make it work but at the same time we are going to ask the question of "what about the culture". The problem with Qatar was that there were cultural stuff that they enforced, nobody forced them to open up and not wear what they wanted, but they used "respect my culture" lie in order to tell people what they can or can't wear, I am sorry but dictating what others can wear or not wear or drink or not drink, or even go there with your girlfriend and not wife, these are all enforcing their own culture into others.

Will Saudi Arabia do the same thing or not? That's the real question, I am sure that with the big superstars coming to Saudi league lately, their stadiums seems ok, so world cup should be fine, as long as they do not enforce their culture on the fans.

We just hosted a World Cup in Qatar and now we have another one confirmed in Saudi Arabia?
Money!!!! a lot of money involved, that's a million dollar answer Roll Eyes

But, I'm a little more optimistic about this result, because unlike Qatar, Saudi Arabia is investing a lot of money in football, they don't just have the ambition of bringing a big event to gain the world's attention, I want to believe that they They are really betting on the growth of football and that they will hold a grand and beautiful event, without as many scandals as the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The reasoning behind the decision to give it to Saudi Arabia is a bit different than you just portrayed it here. Yes money is involved and I think everyone knows this by now as it is confirmed that bribery was also at work for the World Cup 2022 being given to Qatar.

But if I understand this policy correctly, there is some requirement for circulation of the World Cup among continents and 2026 and 2030 is hosted by North America / South America / Canada and northwest Africa and Europe, respectively. That is why potential applications for 2024 were geographically limited ans since Australia now pulled back, Saudi Arabia was the only candidate with an application.

I believe that the FIFA World Cup in 2026 will be one of the best FIFA Cups in the world. There are several reasons for this, such as when four countries
collaborate to host the tournament. we can add economic factors and the power of unity will play crucial roles. We can anticipate many possibilities as I
believe that teams from Africa and Asia have the potential to develop significantly. The primary issue in betting and gambling, and it will become more
challenging as there will no longer be strong or weak teams. We must now wait all the latest news.

Yes you are right that Messi is not the only reason for their success in the last World Cup, because there is teamwork there and Messi is one of the players who work together.
Argentina we know has many star players not just Messi, even in it is dominated by star-labeled names, especially on their front lines. Their problem is that their defense still has problems and somehow their defense is not so solid.
In the next World Cup, the situation will be much different and I can't say now because there must be a big change from each country, including Argentina.

In this World Cup, Argentina was able to win because they had a good balanced team. But till the next World Cup, a lot of the players are going to be a little too old to actually perform as well as they have done in this World Cup. So I believe that is going to be a problem for Argentina. if they have good players coming up, it is not going to be a problem.  They can actually bring in the same level of players or better, they will not have any problems defending the World Cup successfully. But I do not think they will be able to successfully replace some players. Certainly not Lionel Messi.
It's still a problem in some big countries, but it does happen very often. Their regeneration is quite slow, so when the players on the roster are not ready then they will have a little troble finding replacements. But something like this can be overcome, one of which is by giving confidence to young players to be part of the main squad, even though the squad may still be very feasible. But this kind of regeneration is one that must be done. Regeneration will be faster when a country has good management of youth development, even if it takes a litle time.

Sadly the World Cup hosting rights are now for sale. The highest financial bidder would get the hosting right. FIFA has suddenly forgotten the stress and deprivation fans had to go through because of the culture of Qatar society. Fans were forced to adopt some practices that were alien to their lives. Many football lovers didn't enjoy staying in Qatar. Except these nations are willing to be flexible within the period of the World Cup, FIFA will have to reconsider its monetization of the World Cup.

Priorities have changed for governments around the world. One or two decades back, the citizens would support their government in hosting mega events such as the Olympics and World Cup. But nowadays, there is a lot of scrutiny on government spending and questions are being raised why the money is being spent on sporting events rather than on social benefits. Also, many of the western nations are suffering from a very high debt to GDP ratio. Going by this trend, only super-rich countries such as Qatar and Saudi Arabia will be able to host such events from now on.

It is really incredible to see the amount of money being poured from Saudi Arabia to sports like Football.

The world is clearly changing and Football will not look the same in the next decade.

Money talks.

Well.. Qatar set the example and obviously Saudi Arabia can't be left behind. The Qataris are swimming in wads of cash, thanks to sky high prices for their LNG and they took around $300 billion out of it to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup. We can expect Saudi Arabia to spend a similar amount in 2034. The crown prince (Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud) has grand plans for Saudi Arabia and he wants to cut dependence on crude oil exports. He believes that whatever amount that is being spent on events such as the World Cup will pay back itself in the next few years. And I agree with him.

Very well said and I think Saudi Arabia will take it to the next level despite what Qatar has already done. In financial numbers, what Qatar has done is insane and at first glance you could think no other country would take it to this extreme. But as you said, MBS has plans that go way beyond just hosting the World Cup 2034. They are conquering the sports world and this, one can imagine, is Saudi Arabia's incentive to let Qatar's World Cup look like a mediocre bar party:

MBS wants Saudi Arabia to not only host the World Cup, but to also become a hub for sports in general. I am sure that over the course of the next ten years we will see changes in the landscape of how international football is organized. Not necessarily fundamental changes, but growing influence for Saudi Arabia and also participatory rights in a somewhat adjusted Champions League format. Winning over huge fanbases is one of the primary goals for Saudi Arabia to gain global influence with soft power, while oil remains their hard power in international political economy issues.

I don't think if we are going to have a good World Cup and good times in Saudi Arabia. We saw a Muslim country like Qatar with lots of money they have hosted the World Cup before but the fact about these countries is they think they can have a good hosting just by spending lots of money and nothing is important for hosting the World Cup but the money they spend there while they are wrong and I think we can see that in 2026 world cup when the USA is hosting the world cup and they don't need to spend lots of money of the World Cup.

Qatar spent money on unnecessary things but refused to put in finance in human resources. Immigrant workers were underpaid and treated less than animals. They refused to invest in industrial safety equipment which led to the injury and death of many workers. Many workers didn't receive payments and some were even brutalized by law enforcement agencies. I predict that Saudi Arabia will be the worst because it already has a history of human rights abuses and other allegations against them. The World Cup shouldn't be hosted in nations ruled by despots.
