Are we seeing the new A7 coming online?  That's a huge jump in network power, wow!  So much for the halving slowing down network growth.

lets hope they share this power with us soon! I think they've missed their deadline by now.

The "Next Difficulty" website paints an even darker picture +11% (range of +8 to +18) using their algorithm and numbers. The BTC price is also still holding in the range of $600-$610. No major changes on the price front for weeks, isn't it?

numbers are really bad  or is the peak spent?

Big peak huuge  !

Possibly a burn in test for new gear, or another large pool firing up and testing their setup?  Whatever it is, it looks scary.  We'll have a 300G difficulty before long (and I remember saying we'll have a 100G diff...).

well the s9 at 10 cent power  and a diff of 300  makes $3.20 per day

at a diff of 400 makes $1.56 per day

at a diff of 500 makes $0.59  per day

but if you have 5 cent power the s9 makes $2.25 usd a day at a diff of 500

So I can see this moving to a diff of 500  it will take time but looks to happen.

Lie down. Have a cookie
Sad to see final thread, it's been a lot of fun thanks phil for running them.  It sure is high already I hope it goes down as price does not seem match the difficulty jump up, which makes margins smaller... and smaller.

And I agree ETH is interesting they stopped a theft but at a high cost... price went down even had the ETC come out of it.  It was a unique situation with a lot of powerful whales that did not want to lose money.

yeah frankly I could go for 50-100k but for lack of protection I stay in the 10k to 15k area.

Right now I have :

4 s-9s             = 5200
27 gpus + pcs = 7800

6 or 7 k in mixed coins
2 k in cash

which adds to 22000, but the pc gear has real value so I can be higher in my investment
Haven't kept up with these too much phil it's already coming to an end for these diff threads? It's been a pleasure having you run it back from the 0.5% guessing.

Also Bitcoin itself hasn't been hacked AFAIK, it is just the exchanges that have to be treating funds like fort knox. I still feel that it is pretty secure holding your coins as long as you don't do sketch stuff.

I think the large theft of BTC from bitfinex set the price back and from the viewpoint of big money guys show the huge weakness of btc
It is too easy to get it stolen and BTC helps the thief to get away with it.
Compare it to ETH  while it may be just as easy to steal  ETH prevented the thief from keeping it.
I am a nobody money wise in these coin games, but a big player had to be swayed by the results of the two thefts.

It's not necessarily a weakness of BTC, but a big player needs to keep big money at the exchange.
It doesn't have to be seen as a bitcoin weakness. If the exchange can this easily get hacked, I can understand why some are not eager to keep value (money or BTC) on services so weak and gave up this business.

As for the diff jumping compared to the ½ ing  the s-9 is 2.5 x better the ½ ing  is 2 x worse
scale that  against the diff of 213 on july 4 the  diff should be 266 today it is 241  so the adjustment is lower.
Many fail to see that the jump from s7 to s9  in eff more then makes up for the ½ ing.

Wow, I didn't know either that the difference between them is SO big.
Yes, if the efficiency also makes up for the halving, then indeed the price is more than OK now for the miners, no reason to force it to rise.

it is actually worse  the new s-7's  are at .28 to .29 watts a gh    the s-9s at .1 to .11    watts a gh

As for what coin to have to be safe I am not so sure big hitters feel safe with either coin as there are a lot of ways to lose them.

But  ETH  manage to stop a 100 million theft or manipulation coins.

BTC has not done this that I know of.

So while I did not want to run any more threads it looks like the universe has a different plan for threads then I did.

So one more last thread.  Wink

I was surprised to see this thread. But it's always a nice surprise.
I do read them and I do enjoy reading them and playing into this.

Funny how before the halving everybody was saying that the hashrate would go down and the price would go up but the complete opposite happened.

If I remember it well, the price had quite a jump last winter. The new price was good enough to cover the mining costs and since then the price mostly grew. We had 240$ or so, and now it's 600$.
The halving was expected to bring a pump and dump, but when everybody expects that, the speculators stay away Smiley There was a pump before the halving (760$?).
