@fonzie

I just spoke with Vladimir, he said they will NOT BAN Bitcoin, they will in fact start accepting BTC for gas.
And you are?

I don't think this is real tbh, and how would you ban a virtual thing? IDK...

Easy, they'll just turn off the internet.. problem solved!

is russia not making a deal with china so they can by pass the US$... I think they are looking ahead for when the US$ craps it's self they will not get affected... and then we will all have bitcoin and china and russia will be left behind..

Is the USA Dollar still backed by gold.... I think I heard it was not and the usa is just printing more money... and china owns 10% of all the USA debt... Ouch

Is it going to affect btc-e if Russia ban it?

Nope. But first of all, let me assure you that Russia is not going to ban Bitcoin. There are a lot of small Bitcoin-based businesses operating from Russia, and none of them are facing any harassment from the authorities.

Now back to BTC-E. The owners (Alexei and Alexander) are Russian citizens, but the company was based in Kiev until 2013. They shifted the HQ to Bulgaria last year. So in short, BTC-E won't be affected by the happenings in Russia.  Grin

BTC-e operates with a high enough of anonymity so that even if russia were to ban bitcoin that it would not be affected.

The Russian economy has already had enough hits against it so that Russia would be stupid to try to ban bitcoin

Ok, I'm switching to oligarch mode: If I were any Goverment in this world, I would ban bitcoin. Govts don't like people having power over their money. All govt fiat is printed by the govt. So yes, many countries will ban or discredit bitcoin. Doesn't matter if it's Russia or Congo. For me at least.

I think there is a good change of Russia supporting bitcoin as a mean of money transfer and storage value(NOT as a currency), with strong regulations though.

Anything that can make them capable of bypass EUA future sanctions may be usefull in  the future

Nobody cared the first time... I can't imagine that anyone will care all that much this time. It's not like China banning bitcoin. Cheesy Plus, I think many are already under the impression that Russia HAS banned bitcoin....

The report is going to focus on money laundering and regulation. No one is suggesting a ban. In fact, if bitcoin is regulated in Russia, it means it is not illegal.
