As far as I know, the guy who ran LFC(James Ray Houston) was a renowned professional con artist. The parts that I've read almost seem almost unbelievable. With people just random wiring thousands of dollars to Europe to become members of this imaginary city, lol.

In your readings, did you get to the part yet that Sonny Vleisides of BFL is his real son?

Yes I did. And I'm surprised that Sonny talks about LFC like it was some real project that his father was the creator of as opposed to a scam.

Seems like about every scam artist under the sun has used, promoted, or been involved with "Laissez Faire City" over the years -- draw from that what you want.

By the way, I mentioned Laissez Faire City soem time ago in a post.
Well, I went to see them the other day, and it really looks like they
are both legitimate and they have their act together and they have
substantial backing, just like I was told.

I spent a wonderful afternoon talking to the City Clerk last week, and
they have a lot to offer all of us at a very fair price. Plus, you can
also have a home base at the embassy when you visit Costa rica.

I know that much scepticism is created due to the internet's
impersonality. We simply type in messages and prepare web pages, but
unless you meet the people involved, it's sometimes easy to jump to
hasty conclusions. Well, that's what I did a few months ago, as some of
you recall, concerning this project.

Their new stock market is supposed to be online in a couple of months,
and they are working as fast as they can to redesign their web pages,
but I can tell you that this is not a rip off. These peple have a very
impressive headquarters in one of the nicest, if not the nicest,
neighborhoods in Costa Rica, and they have other freedom loving
individuals living in that same neighborhood. In fact, I hope to move
over there in a month or two.

They have lots of innovative services which I hope to tell you about
over the next couple of months. It's just too bad all of you can't
just pick up and move down here. However, they have plans to start
communiites of like minded people all over the world.
Anyway, enough on that for now. I'll give you more details as I learn
more and visit them again. They are clear on the other side of town
now, so the most I could go there is a couple of times a month, but it
sure will be enjoyable.

John

Highlighted above, the City Clerk was...wait for it (as if you didn't already know)...Sonny Vleisides, the CEO/President of BFL.

The author is John Allen who is Robert Demes. Some people have a hard time giving up their sock puppets.

Wasn't laissez faire city just one massive scam that took advantage of deluded libertarians?

That's pretty much the impression I got from it. But with that kind of libertarians you never know, they might actually have believed it. Kinda like BFL believed they can deliver an ASIC in 2 months.

You're damn right they believe it. Read the following account, with apologies for the cached link, for the site has blocked my IP: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:DUTIv88KsJIJ:community.netidea.com/echan/lfcity.htm+&cd=3&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

Best minds' is no hyperbole. Just look over their Laissez Faire City Times newspaper on line and gauge for yourself what formidable intellects roam LF City's precincts. And such fun people too! Now THAT is the point!

Returning to their home countries, over the year-end holidays of 1994, the group communicated by fax, telephone and e-mail to debate the process and actualize the
founding verbiage. They employed lawyers and trustees to carry out their resolve.
Accumulated grant moneys were turned over to the new trustee; and the attorneys
subsequently recorded the founding trust documents at the public registrar of two
separate internationally recognized jurisdictions.

The Laissez Faire City International Trust was formalized on January 1, 1995.

And the four travelers all decided to put their money where their mouths were by becoming founding grantors of  Laissez Faire City and two of them leapt off a bridge just to seal it in style. As I hung there dangling above the river still 100 feet below I reflected that an existing founder had jumped FIRST. Now how many businesses have that kind of chutzpah? Look at what they have to offer and decide for yourself....

The new founders where Sonny Vleisides and his Daddy-O, Jame Ray Houston, known as Rex Rogers to all those who paid the $6,000 membership fee to join. The lottery scheme started at the same time.

I'm starting to wonder if Libertarianism should carry the same negative connotation as the word dogma.

i.e. I don't follow the Catholic Libertarian dogma.

I guess I'll just add him to the list currently containing Sonny K. and Ninja Lady. Soon, they're be as many on this list as there are on a similar list related to Laissez Faire City. Maybe Sonny K. and NL can be found below the same bridge that two founders of LFC used to end it all.

Don't you find it strange that Peter Koppe is associated with the Vleisides clan, and his address was the first used by Butterfly Labs Inc.?

All the pieces are starting to fit together now.
I haven't been following all the BFL shenanigans, what does this mean exactly?
