What's the problem with a transaction fee? I'm sure there's work involved with taking bitcoin just the same as there is credit card.
There really is not on the merchants side. The payment processor takes care of this work.

Sure, but they should then have me read and acknowledge each and every expense they face when providing the service:
janitorial fee
cof fee
electricity surcharge
employee's retirement savings contributions
twitter account maintenance fee

I guess we should be thankful that some companies are starting to accept bit coin. If one starts to accept then hopefully others will follow in suit and start to accept bit coin as well once they realise that it can work and will be benificial to them. It may take time for the bigger companies to start to accept this kind of currency but once they know they can bring more customers in I am sure they will jump at the chance to start accepting this kind of currency, we hope!

Rename "transaction fee" to "additional fee". Problem solved. Company can charge whatever it wants in my opinion as long as it's labeled correctly, and not a "hidden fee".

Shouldnt this 'fee' just be considered a cost of business.... DUH. Then this kind of "fee" is just included in the price of the ticket - NOT an additional fee. This is the equivalent of having a Vending machine with TWO coin slots. One to pay for the drink/chocolate, and the other to pay for the human to come and collect the money and fill the machine up again.

It's good of them to bow to the pressure and remove that ridiculous "administrative fee".  I can just imagine the board-room meeting where that decision was made lol

The proper term is "administrative charge".

I've flown on air baltic and yeah I recall them tacking on all sorts of miscellaneous fees.  There's a lot of low cost air lines where, if you check a bag, that's an extra $50 they tack on.

I would think that the  overall costs would be lower as it is much cheaper to accept bitcoin then it is to accept credit cards.

The transaction fee is a bit of a downer, at least it's same fee for Credit card use and Bitcoin. Probably some ridiculous fee the charge to everyone unless you use their card.

Edit: Fee removed, as it can be seen here: https://i.imgur.com/Ley8aWV.png

Thanks its good to know that they listened to the community response and removed it
If I ever hang out in Russia I will need to remember to try air baltic

It's a low-cost airline, they charge for pretty much everything. Still good news, they took BTC on board...
Bitcoin is a low cost payment method. Seems to fit well

Air Travel has been bought with btc for a while

EXPEDIA

Air and Hotel right???

So an individual airline is cool, but not a major event, now if a big carrier took it, that would be a better btc news pop imo

But merchant acceptance isn't the driving force

It's bitcoin users as a percentage of world populaton

If I ever fly with them I will shout out "Bitcoin" and see how many people would react to it.

More and more businesses are accepting Bitcoin because among all the other benefits of using Bitcoin, they get instant advertisement with threads such as this.

Imagine it was Malaysia Airlines!

Who would book then?

Also, I should note. They are losing over 1M USD a day for months and months now!
