It's good that they are starting to adopt Bitcoin as a mode of payment but there's something bothers me, what if they receive their payment and the market instantly crash wouldn't that be a problem to the workers? this is just a hypothetical and example if a company wants to pay their workers Bitcoin. I think it would be risky for workers to receive Bitcoin as a payment not unless they sell it immediately.

ya.ya.yo!
they should be able to take that risk and what if on the other hand the market improves and they can take profit ,the adoption is supported by the company as well so if the market crashes then they must wait ! circumstances are not difficult if the holder can control it ,every month the company will buy bitcoins so it's a good time to sell but it's not that simple either

Very good news. I think europe is very supportive of the growth of cryptocurrencies. India has recently declared a tax on cryptocurrencies. It looks like this is a green light for some regions for cryptocurrencies. This is a good sign for the foreseeable future for cryptocurrencies.

Yeah, that's a good move by that politician but to be honest he doesn't even need fiat money on his life coz he has bunch of it. if i were him and i will do the same thing like that. i don't even need to think again to think to work even harder to get more money to keep my life lo. He has big salary as politician. I hope that he will give motivations to the more and more big guys to accept bitcoin as a part of their salaries. It doesn't need to be 100% but just give it around 25% from their salaries in bitcoin will be good.

It is them, the people that are becoming smarter. It's because that they do understand that there's more to bitcoin and what they've seen is just part of its growth.
They do realize that it's still in the early stage if they're aiming for the highest that they can. As someone working with the government or any reputable company, it's a privilege to receive your salary in bitcoin but it's always a choice of yours.

Bitcoin is getting smarter now.
In Europe a number of politicians and parliamentarians in various countries have now started to accept Bitcoin as their salary.
And Christophe De Beukelaer who became one of the first European politicians to receive a salary in the form of BTC.
Of course this is good news for bitcoin because bitcoin is increasingly being used by the wider community.
Hopefully with this news bitcoin will bounce back.

This news really proves again that we are at least 1 step further in terms of adoption then we were back in 2017 when the bullrun was purely based on hype and FOMO. That was also the reason in my opinion, why the bear market the followed in the years from 2018 to 2020 was that long and hard, the market of 2017 was just overvalued. If i would have the chance to get paid in BTC i am not sure if i would take that option though the drop from BTC in the last few weeks has shown that again. I am pretty sure that in the long run you make profit from it in comparison to being paid in FIAT but if you need the biggest part of that money every month to pay your fixed costs then it is hard.

I think they are not directly receiving bitcoin per se, but just have stated that they will be converting their salary into bitcoin as soon as they receive it. Two different things, but the message is still clear: they are now slowly welcoming bitcoin into the economy and possibly their ecosystem. They are getting smart by getting their feet wet, and by being an example for others who has the capacity to do the same.

Hopefully what they're doing is just not to get some sympathy and following from bitcoin and crypto users just to get re-elected since there are some people who would do everything just to make themselves look good.

Receiving a salary with bitcoin in my opinion is the right choice especially at this time the price of bitcoin is experiencing a decline so they will receive more bitcoins and if every salary they receive is not all exchanged for fiat money then I think some of the bitcoins left in their wallets must be can provide a large profit if they are able to hold it long term and then sell it when the bitcoin price has reached a new ATH.

Maybe there is some narrative behind politicians accepting bitcoin as salary. We all know that the Mayor or New York or Miami has started this trend already.

But the narrative that I'm talking about is that they could used it to attract voters? Maybe they will be banking on the generations that is heavily on crypto and they could used it as platform if they run again for public office. But indeed, a win-win situation for crypto enthusiast in Europe.
Maybe they have their own agenda by accepting bitcoin and showing it to the public but hopefully, that is not their plan to accept bitcoin. But even if they have agenda that will bring a new fresh air for bitcoin users and spread the news to that city and attract more users to accept bitcoin. If the support comes for more, that can lift the higher price and we will see another bull run like before. These situations are good for bitcoin to rise more as the price can go back to $38k.

Is not it people are getting smarter and it's not bitcoin. Bitcoin follows who will be adopting it and people are realizing if that will worth for them to receive their salary in the bitcoin form rather than fiat form.

In Europe a number of politicians and parliamentarians in various countries have now started to accept Bitcoin as their salary.
Glad to see this happens. I do believe if bitcoin will become the best store of value. It's now that countries are starting to seeing bitcoin as a legal tender as well. I heard that more countries are preparing bitcoin as legal tender.

And Christophe De Beukelaer who became one of the first European politicians to receive a salary in the form of BTC.
It seems like he realizes the potential of bitcoin in the future and that's why he wants more and more bitcoin.

Of course this is good news for bitcoin because bitcoin is increasingly being used by the wider community.

This means a few marketing and good news for bitcoin. I will be expecting the same thing to happen with more and more politicians. Will they consider altcoin as well?  Cheesy

First of all move this topic to bitcoin discussion since its related to bitcoin.

Adoption on bitcoin will slowly be recognize through out the countries. We cant say for sure what would be its future price but as long as many are interested with it, we can vet that btc will increase in market value. Some are probably getting hype with it when its high but thats totally wrong. Now that its down , people should take this advantage when the market is going red to acquire more btc.

the more the merrier! not a very popular politician in the international news actually but he is influenced by the NY city mayor which he stated in his Twitter post. https://twitter.com/cdebeukelaer/status/1486702433233477642

seem a pure fan and just want to probably hedge his money against inflation which he must have a lot since he owns a grocery store and he is an engineer as what his profile says. there should have been more people like him who have BTC in Europe, coinfest is held in their region.

This is not about protecting its money from inflation but it is news about Europe being the first to pay politicians salaries with Bitcoin.
It's not even politicians who want to be paid their salaries in bitcoin, but the seven NFL stars have chosen to be paid in Bitcoin as well.
For example NBA stars like Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala have said that they will receive their salaries in bitcoin.

he is not getting paid in BTC but he is converting his salary to BTC. no government today pays BTC. yes, it's about celebrities and sports athletes hyping the cryptocurrency and making people come to crypto. for regular people, they join because they just want to make look cool to the public but behind the scene, something else is happening because there is a purpose why doing so.  if the value of their wealth is sinking because of inflation, it make sense to move to BTC.

winning vote could be a reason. crypto users are everywhere.

I think this seeding activity started from the New York city only. As mentioned above Eric Adam is the guy behind exploring the bitcoin world and implementing its roots into new york. He foresees New York as the future Hub for the bitcoin.

Nonetheless this is good news, as it is slowly seeding the bitcoin in rest of the politicians mind. El Salvador is another great example to do so. Since the whole state government in the business of crypto usage so that's just another level of acceptance.

A politician accepting bitcoin can only have two agenda's on their minds: Either they truly want bitcoin to become part of the traditional ecosystem Or else they just want to win the peeps vote through it.  Wink

Bitcoin (BTC) craze among lawmakers has reached the Belgian parliament now, as Brussels member of parliament Christophe De Beukelaer became the first European politician to convert his salary to Bitcoin.

The Brussels MP’s monthly salary of EUR 5,500 ($6,140.75) will be converted to Bitcoin using the Bit4You crypto trading platform, reported Bruzz. Beukelaer, who represents Humanist Democratic Centre (CDH) party, hopes his move would inspire other politicians in the region to show a similar interest in the nascent tech.

Beukelaer cited the example of New York City Mayor Eric Adams and how American politicians are working to make their native states or cities Bitcoin hubs. He said:

“New York City Mayor Eric Adams has spent three months collecting his Bitcoin salary to make New York the Bitcoin hub. I think it is not too late for Brussels and Belgium to play a leading role in the cryptocurrency industry."

If I could afford to accept bitcoin as part of my salary I would. Politicians make enough from their side deals so I don't think their super low govt salary  matters to them. I probably would do the same in their shoes

Indeed many even every month they receive a salary of EUR 5,500 (6,140.75 US dollars) around Rp. 85 million which will be converted to Bitcoin using the Bit4You crypto trading platform.
Remarkable European.
