Hello,

I would like to buy a few altcoins, which websites are the safest to buy from with a credit card ?
Also are there any fees ? How can I know if a website is trustworthy ?

Example:
I buy 10 coins valued 1$/u.
Will I spend 10$ to get them in my wallet ?

Your best move to prevent scams is to just use the top and famous bitcoin/crypto exchanges. One good option is http://bitfinex.com

IMO, rather than using credit card use either (local) bank transfer or Skrill. Also, since the amount is quite low, I would suggest you to first purchase BTC from localbitcoins, and then convert it to the altcoin of your choice using exchanges such as BTC-e, Bittrex, or YoBit.

How can I know if a website is trustworthy ?

First, here's a list of bitcoin exchanges: https://bitcoin.org/en/exchanges

There are just way too many websites out there and this list is only the minimum. But I suggest you buy btc or eth first then trade with these. Also keep in mind that different websites may list different coins.

Firstly, You can purchase some bitcoins with your credit/debit card. You can transfer those bitcoin to a trusted trading site eg. Yobit, Cryptopia, etc. Here you can now purchase some altcoins with your bitcoins. You can buy them at low and sell them once they are high. You can use proper research and proper trading skills to make some profit. If you just want to get some altcoins, you can get them on a number of sites. Trading altcoins is a really good way to make money online.

Here I will suggest you to direct buy and sell of your Bitcoin and money at the trading exchange site .
Just visit at localbitcoins.com and make your account and very your account with details . After verification you can make buy and sell both . Probably you will be able to get any payment way in your local at the local Bitcoins.com and then buy Bitcoin at your Bitcoin address ( first make your account at blockchain.info and you will get Bitcoin address ) .
Now  , create a account at your.net/poloniex/bitrex/btc-e/cryptopia.co.nz/livecoin/nova ( all these are exchange ,as an newbie I will recommend for yobit.net ) .
Finally transfer your Bitcoin at yobit like exchange and buy any coin or altcoins with your Bitcoin .

If you're a first time in the world of crypto currency i suggest to buy and invest your money in the worlds main crypto currency that is using and that is bitcoin cause investing in some altcoin might lose your money cause a lot of altcoins this days are just a bunch of scams that is being displayed in major exchanges. Bitcoin is a safe haven to store all your assets and if you want to trade a little bit you can buy some altcoins, just remember altcoins are only good in short term investment unlike bitcoin that has milllions of supports from devs, local or online business and being used a payment in goods and services, many countries already adopted it. You can buy alts and BTC in poloniex or cryptopia.

Most known websites with biggest trust and longest working ones. Try coinbase/bitstamp etc. only most known and reliable.

Example:
I buy 10 coins valued 1$/u.
Will I spend 10$ to get them in my wallet ?
You will spend whatever exchange will charge you to withdraw them. Probably around $0.2-$5 depends on amount of transactions and actual costs of exchanges.

How can I know if a website is trustworthy ?

First, here's a list of bitcoin exchanges: https://bitcoin.org/en/exchanges

You don't mention what country you're in and this detail may impact which exchange you can/want to use.

As for whether it's reputable, one way to find out is once you've selected an exchange search for posts on this forum related to that exchange. If you get several, generally positive mentions about the exchange you could assume it's reputable. If people have had problems you'll probably see threads about it here. And if there's no mention of it on this forum at all, proceed with caution!

I use Coinbase for BTC, ETH, and LTC. Coinbase operates in many countries around the world and they do charge fees for their services but they are mighty convenient. If you're willing to wait a few days for the transaction to settle (meaning having access to your coins to spend or transfer to another wallet) you can do a purchase direct from a dedicated savings or checking account and the fees will below, less than 2% (whereas using a debit/credit card will be 3.99%).

Good luck to you!

To answer your direct question: you will spend more than $1 to $1. At a minimum, any broker that takes credit card would charge you a small % fee to buy if for no other reason than they pay fees to do so, and then you have the blockchain fees...

You also asked about "buy from with a credit card": well which "altcoins"? Some altcoins are on some but not all brokers/exchanges that take credit card, but most altcoins are only on the COIN TO COIN trades where you would need to buy something they take and then TRADE it for the altcoins. This would also have a small fee to do.

So how you would get there from here really depends on which altcoins.
