The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom
That's 8.1mh/s mining X11 right? Using maybe 100W of power?

You are wasting your time considering the ASIC miners available now and especially the ones available soon, which will do 1000 times that hash rate but only maybe 8 times that much power.

So I have a question. I am hashing with a gtx 970 card and getting 8103kh/s steady. This is also my video card for my monitors. Just want to know if this is good or am I wasting my time trying ?

How much watt is 67%? Do you have a watt-o-meter?

I think he answered this in the OP. 105-110W's.

This is quite good I think. Better Hash per watt then my 280x's anyway :/

I wonder what the new AMD cards will bring.

Current AMD brings it just fine.

Hopefully the next upcoming amd is much better for mining..

I'm running gtx 980 by EVGA, it's the SuperClocked stock cooler model. I set core through msi afterburner to +150; power to 125%; voltage to +.085volt; then launch nvinspector go to p2 and set mem to 4000mhz. No magic here guys, just simple OC. Then in gpu-z after launching cc miner you can see 1500core/8000mem(4000x2). And I'm sure it's not even closely optimized, cause power usage never goes even to 100% of TDP

Weird for me then because I can't get my EVGA 970 SC to take any overclock on Memory.

No matter what I do the card resets to stock value. Wonder if the bios is locked like mentioned above.

Are you having the latest driver?

If I understand correctly gtx 980 is using the old nm chip. So the benefit shouldn't be so much...
twice the hashrate of the 780ti on keccak.... yep not much

and the price is like triple...

Triple of 780ti?? I'd say roughly same unless you meant 750ti

Yes triple of 750ti. Do you think its worth buying 980?

no unless you can find it at 400-450 euro, the same for 970, current price is op, 320 euro would be fine

Is that with a 970 or 980?

Have the Gigabyte GTX 970 OC and can't go above 3500 using the method you describe. If I go higher, it will automatically setback to 3000.
same here with evga... apparently this method only works for some brand...
I think that would require to mod the bios to allow that.

edit: actually the real solution is to get the miners to run at p0 state level (I need to look into this and see what triggers this... )
