I'm still leaning toward the explanation's ultimately being some weird concatenation of accidental events--not some sensational conspiracy. But we may never know. 65 years on, we still have no idea what happened to Star Ariel, a case just about as baffling as MH370:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BSAA_Star_Ariel_disappearance

I can recommend two forums following this story which seem to have a better S/N ratio than most (less raving lunacy.) The first is a professional pilots' forum:

http://www.pprune.org/rumours-news/535538-malaysian-airlines-mh370-contact-lost.html

The second seems more oriented toward mariners:

http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1947061&highlight=mh370

Both have lots of posts and a considerable amount of informed speculation.

Intelligence website says Boeing engineers believe Flight 370 landed in Pakistan in a Taliban area.

Not possible. But it would have been nice if it happened so. At least some of the passengers would have been able to return to their families. But now... all of them are dead.

Journalism: CNN Headline News enlists psychic in missing airliner coverage

[...]
“Naturally, I don’t have hard, concrete evidence. I think any psychic who has hard, concrete evidence can’t do their job correctly…They’ll just work off what they know. I tend to work off what I don’t know….I kept feeling as though yes, there are some people who have passed away…I do believe that it actually crashed, and I see a lot of trees. I think there is a larger organization behind this that is leading us off track with this debris.”

[...]
Saying they have endured heart-wrenching uncertainty and deserved definitive answers, the families of passengers aboard missing Malaysia Airlines flight 370 expressed hope Wednesday that the media will eventually receive some kind of closure regarding the plane’s mysterious disappearance. “This has been an extremely difficult time for the reporters and anchors covering this event; they have put their lives on hold over the past 10 days and we know they won’t be able to move forward until they learn the fate of this airliner,” said Sarah Wan, speaking on behalf of the relatives and loved ones of the 239 missing individuals, who remain hopeful that some sort of resolution will be reached for the sake of the various news networks and websites. “The conflicting reports and numerous remaining unanswered questions have been devastating for them. It’s not surprising that they are obsessing around the clock, wondering what could have possibly occurred on board that flight. I don’t know how they are able to stay so resilient, grasping at every new statement or bit of information that trickles out. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them.” Wan said there was still a chance the plane may have been hijacked and the passengers aboard had been taken hostage, but she didn’t want to unfairly get the media’s hopes up.

At the end there are a lot of possibilities that may have caused MH370 to disappear.

If we ever will find out the truth depends if the passengers are still alive or
if not that the explanation that we'll hear really happened to MH370.

I still hope that all passengers of flight MH370 are alive and that we don't see an attack on any state with the machine.

Not much hope left for the passengers.

Kind of inclined to agree, but then why all this attention and speculation?

Because
a) Fox news and friends make money off of the bullshit they feed the people
b) the average person -as demonstrated succesfully in this very thread- is so uninformed, uneducated and is avoiding at all costs to think for himself, so that the Hollywoodian ideals of aliens, terrorists, black holes and all that crap seem to him believable and real.

So real that he would rather believe that Elvis, Fidel, Jimi, Osama and Alf were onboard that plane than just realise a simple truth.
Planes crash.

People saying stuff like "so many possibilities" are like stun guns to me. The sheer stupidity is incrementally increasing. They find it more plausible that alien homosexual socialist terrorists aided by osama & adolf, took over the biggest jet mankind has built, turned off
all its tracking systems and landed it in the bermuda triangle.

^ Prosecution rests. Corporate media are taking this as an opportunity to show us exactly the extent of the non-information direction they're going in right now. Surely even total fools are now scratching their head saying "these news people are full of crap these days"
Next assumption: Aliens took the flight 370?  Roll Eyes

No-one's guesswork makes sense with this one.
  • Terrorist attack? That plane won't be useful for any attack now
  • Kidnapping valuable passengers? No-one obvious onboard, but to take a whole aircraft full of passengers too? That's a pretty conspicuous kidnap plot
  • Hijacking valuable cargo that was travelling undocumented? You'd think a flight like that would come with security personnel and vetted pilots
  • Went anywhere overland? Someones military radar would pick that up
  • "Shadowed" the radar signature of a another plane? I think modern radar would pick 2 objects up even if this was done skillfully
  • The passengers phones were still powered on hours after the plane went off-radar? Then the phone network base stations would know the location

how about:
Plane crash..
Number 1 cause of airplane accidents since the dawn of the age of man?

They dived in the indian ocean.

Kind of inclined to agree, but then why all this attention and speculation? If it sunk quickly in deep water, then there's your explanation for the disappearing act.

Newsmedia has been pretty dead recently, maybe the producers were just bored, and thought they'd spin a load of nothing out of story that ran into a factual dead end. No harm in hype when the outcome is unknown. It's like they're showing that you can attach almost any spin to a story if you feel like it.

All the government and military spokespeople seem to be misdirecting and evading. The US must have something more, they've got too much surveillance coverage. It doesn't seem likely that it'll ever get found, add it to the mystery list.

As news, this story is all but dead. There have been no new revelations recently--just endless babbling by talking heads certain that their pet conjectures are the truth. But the conjectures are all flawed, there is no real pattern of trustworthy evidence, and the quality of the speculation starts to degenerate toward farce--endless soundbites devoid of real content.
