Food prices nearly doubled in most countries of the world due to the covid-19 pandemic .The pandemic have a negative impact on many economies across the globe now that things are going back to normal maybe things will improve and prices of food item will stabilize.
It did and that resulted to bad status of economy for most countries. But as of now, some have already made a plan on how to recover and others have recovering very well.
But as for the prices, it's easy for it to increase but hard for it to be seen to decrease.
In my country oil price have increased like anything. This increase is getting reflected on each and everything. As a result food and all other things have increased in price. Here the sufferers were the lower section of people and the middle class, because they've a planned budget and need to stick to it. When there is increase in the consumer things the government should also increase the salaries. This isn't happening. Governments doesn't operate for the people, but it works for the corporates.

here in my country the price of staples remains stable....my country's government has succeeded in suppressing price spikes that may occur due to lack of supply or mafia games.  hey @op, i curious if your country's condition is still the same as when you made this post?

Well, food price doubled and most other aspects of our livelihood too and its a very normal situation in times of disasters. It's an unusual lifestyle and so, unusual things. Though, you can be rest assured that there are those that benefited and are still benefiting from the pandemic down to this day. Like, you can imagine that people in the hand sanitizer business and nose masks are still in business to this very moment. One of the factors promoting it is due to the strict government policies on some organisation. For sure things does improve or will improve but then, it can never go back to normal,  thqts the funny things about life.

When i have time i go to local market to check prices

Vegetable prices doubled
Fruit prices doubled
Meat prices around 30% increase
Grain products around 20% increase
...

And my country  is a exporter of food products

How is it in your country ? Same ?

My country is Romania
We tried to ban exports of grain ,but stupid EU intervened...

I doubt the farmers who are growing the produce, which pays into the tax receipts of your government, are complaining about the ban being struck down. Trade barriers work both ways, if your country starts blocking certain exports - instead of becoming more productive - then in future you might find that certain imports start becoming more expensive in return. People always look at the short term but are in many ways ignorant to the bigger long term picture. The last year during the pandemic has broken down all sorts of supply chains and it is only foolish people who jump to the wrong conclusions too early, then make rash decisions which can have unintended side effects of making the situation even worse for all.

Consciously or not, this pandemic that has been running for almost a year has resulted in losses in many sectors and one of them is clothing, food and shelter.
but if you look at it globally, it's actually not only in the food and clothing sector, but people's needs are also increasing because during this pandemic many people have gone bankrupt besides that a lot of people have lost their jobs because of this pandemic.
and I think this is one of the most severe blows, especially for the world economy because I am very sure that everyone in the world, both individuals and companies, all feel the loss and I think it will really take time to get things back to normal.

In the country where I reside currently, the prices of food items have skyrocketed. Worse still is that the country is experiencing food scarcity. In this nation, I'd agree that COVID has a role to play however a small one. The government of this nation is as corrupt as the devil. Peasant farmers can't go to their farms because of the high level of insecurity. Even when they successfully harvest their crops, transporting them to other regions is almost as difficult as a camel passing through the eye a needle. This is because the goods might be highjacked.

These factors and many more have made the economic law of supply and demand to become potent. Right now, the citizens of this nation don't care anymore, all they want to do is just survive.

You are from Nigeria, right? It is sad to hear about the condition there. The security situation has worsened due to armed fighting between various ethnic groups. For a while we are hearing about thousands of deaths caused due to the battles between farmers and nomadic herders. One reason why the farmers face so much issue in transporting their produce is because railway is not widespread in Nigeria. Despite being one of the major oil producers, Nigeria has only 4,000 km of railway track (and that too not interconnected). But I heard that a railway line connecting Kano and Lagos is being developed. It is a good sign.

I think the government's role is significant, the government doesn't care about farmers, fertilizer subsidies are eliminated and imports of agricultural materials increase, this makes farmers switch jobs so that food prices are scarce and of course prices are getting more expensive.

It's not just the Government (Though they are the Biggest Factor) but as well its Citizens. Why? The citizens of the state are the ones buying or we are the consumers, but we are already in a Crab mentality world in which we patronize imported products rather than our own locally made products. We have this hypocrisy in ourselves that, we find our own products cheap and sub-standard (Not to all products but there are).

Though, The Government still has the last call on it. They rather support or just put a blind eye and look whichever or whoever profits to them.

This pandemic has nothing to do with the increase in the price of these materials.
The pandemic has made the demand higher for those since everyone has to stay at home and most transportation were stopped due to strict lockdown.
This kind of price increase is very common in traditional markets, even before the pandemic. The increase in the price of these materials has more to do with holiday celebrations or the climate of a region.
It's common but sometimes they also get some price decrease when there's a lot of supply in the market but the pandemic did really affected and made the price even higher.

There is a growing opinion that the problem of coronavirus is artificial, and through vaccination, over time and forced, the bulk of people are injected with drugs that destroy the immune system and in a few years such vaccination will lead to mass extinction of people. Thus, the problem with food will be solved - by a sharp decrease in the population.
Coronavirus in itself is not a terrible disease; measures to combat it have more serious consequences. States are so methodical and every minute we are constantly reminded of the problem of coronavirus that we involuntarily wonder if all this is intentional.

Just because a lot of people believe something doesn't make it true.  This is a stupid idea and the people who believe it are stupid.  Having a lot of people believe something so stupid doesn't make it less stupid or make them not stupid for believing it.  People have been talking about population control conspiracy theories for decades and they've never been true.  This is just the latest twist on this old dumb conspiracy theory.

The reason for the doubling of food prices is largely due to the negligence of law enforcement agencies on the other hand failure of laws food prices lack of information education and cultural influences are equally responsible for adulteration of food if the law is followed properly people will not be able to increase the price of food so much. People need to be aware of law enforcement food prices will not double if opposed.

Or just simply produce enough foods and don't hoard them. The lockdown contributed to the food inflation. If you have your local farmers locked down, food prices will likely go up, unless you heavily rely on importation. And you will need to import foods that can be sold at thesame rate or lower than local alternatives

Because of the epidemic, at that time, everyone was afraid of not having anything to eat, and they were hoarding a lot, causing prices to go up. In this way, the rise in the price of food is similar to the rise in the price of bitcoin, because everyone bought it, so the price went up, if no one pays attention, if no one buys, then the price will slowly come down.

One of the causes of the increase in the price of basic commodities is the tiered distribution chain. The length of distribution channels makes commodity prices at the producer level much different and expensive when they reach consumers.

The long distribution factor was suspected to have resulted in asymmetric price fluctuations. That is, it turns out that the price at the farmer is stable or down but the price at the consumer level actually goes up

I think if a lot of people are advocating towards preventing food wastage then we will probably be able to make a movement plus there are apps or organization that deal with the food wastage. I think that's the only piece in the puzzle that's left because I think if we are able to utilize every products with a low shelf life to it's fullest, we will be able to reduce food wastage greatly. Restaurants, bakeries and other businesses that deals with food shouldn't throw their leftovers because they are a big contributor to food waste problem too.

You can take out awareness campaigns, but apart from that there is not much to do in this subject. It is entirely up to the individuals to decide how much of the food products they want to consume. If they want to throw away a part of it, then we can't oppose. Because they have purchased those food items and it is their discretion on how to use them. The governments can't coerce people on what they eat inside their homes. For offices and hostels, it may be possible to introduce new laws, to penalize people who waste food. But no such thing can be done against food wastage inside individual homes.
