Manchester United are working on a deal to sign Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
United have prioritised a defensive midfielder in the summer market after deciding against signing one last year and Phillips has impressed since Leeds were promoted to the Premier League in 2020.
Although United are interested in Phillips's England teammates Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham, West Ham have publicly valued Rice at an exorbitant £150million while Borussia Dortmund want to keep Bellingham for one more year as they are resigned to losing Erling Haaland this summer.

Do players of today still get the same feeling as before when they get a calling to play for United...i don't think so, from how these transfers are made to sound as if United is begging for these players services. Hope United gets through with this rough patch.
This is a good move by Manchester United, and it shows that the clubs know the right decisions to take but never take them; Phillips was supposed to be sgned up after the Euros, yet MUFC went ahead to sign CR7 (Good for marketing uno). Kalvin Phillips player profile fits well as a midfield pivot player, one that manchester united lacks, and one that suits Ole and Ten Haag style of football set up. Manchester United will be hoping leeds get relegated so they can atleast buy Philips on the cheap side.
