Liverpool and Mohamed Salah have yet to come to an agreement, regarding the extension of Salah's contract at Liverpool which will expire in June 2023. Salah's request for a salary increase is the reason why the deal seems to be deadlocked. In the press conference ahead of the Brighton vs Liverpool match, Juergen Klopp said that regarding Salah's contract Liverpool could not do more, the club had done what it
could do, the decision depends on Mohamed Salah. Not long after the press conference, Ramy Abbas as Mohamed Salah's agent immediately gave a laughing emoji on Twitter, it's like a satire to what Klopp said. I don't think Liverpool management should refuse Salah's salary request, because if we look at Salah's huge contribution to Liverpool, it was very deserving of Salah to get the salary increase he wanted.
I never really expected him to be taking this long. I mean lets be honest here, both sides do not really "need" each other. Sure if Salah stays in Liverpool, that would be great for Liverpool, who wouldn't want a player like Salah to play for their team? Let alone leave it. We would also see Salah play in the best possible role he could hope for, so he is his best at Liverpool as well and could be still great somewhere else but maybe not this much.
So, they are "good to have" for each other but not really "need". Salah could leave and find better salary somewhere else, and Klopp could easily replace Salah with someone else and not become a terrible team because of it.
I think Liverpool management should be more serious about extending Mohamed Salah's contract, because from my point of view Liverpool need
Salah a lot. If they look for a replacement for Salah, Liverpool will likely have to pay a large transfer fee. Because I believe a player who has the ability
like Salah will not be cheap, so instead of spending a large amount of money looking for a replacement for Salah, it is much more effective to extend
Salah's contract. Which Mohamed Salah has proven to make a big contribution to Liverpool, whereas if Liverpool decide to let Salah go to another team,
maybe the replacement they get is not as good as Salah or needs more time to adapt.
