Raheem Sterling's latest admission over possibly leaving Manchester City could have big implications on Chelsea's transfer plans in the near future.

The England international is being linked with a move to Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta said to be a huge fan of the speedy winger.

If Sterling does leave City, then this could have a big bearing on Chelsea, with regards to the players the Premier League champions could target to replace Sterling if their attacker departs.

Federico Chiesa, who has been linked with the Blues and Liverpool in recent months, is someone that City are reportedly keen on and Sterling moving away could persuade Pep Guardiola to try and sign the Juventus winger.

The release clause is one way for a team to be able to fence off their players from being targeted by other clubs, but I think Pedri release clause is really quite crazy, indeed Pedri is one of the talented young players but is it very reasonable for Barcelona with set Pedri release clause as high as it's?, even on par with Benzema who has proven to be a pretty good striker, and very crazy is that even the release clause is very high compared to the clauses that their former star Messi had for 700 million euros, and also Griezmann 800 million euros.

To be honest, Pedri's release clause is the one that makes at most sense of all the players listed in this table Cheesy Overall, however, they are all totally crazy.
You only have to look at the release clause of Modric and Benzema. Both are in their mid-30s, have long since reached their peak performance and are expected to cost a total of over 1 billion. I know that the release clauses were set long before that, when all these players were much younger and more capable of leading the team. Nevertheless, they were already crazy high back then.

What surprises you in this news? The club wants to guarantee itself that the young player will not leave when he adds a little more skill and experience, so it offers him such a contract. He is already receiving a huge salary as if he has already become a star, and the club guarantees the rights on him in the long term.
By the way, in the Spanish championship there are already two players with such compensation - Benzema and Valverde.

I think yes. This is a reasonable amount and, most importantly, it is only protection from the fact that the player will leave on unfavorable terms for the club. Nobody forbids selling Pedri for 100 million or even 50 million - the real selling price in any case will be set by the buyer and seller. I would not pay serious attention to such points, they have little effect on what the player will achieve or not.

please don't forget with all this that from next year on newcastle united will have enough money at their disposal to maybe be able/want to bid for the world striker K. Mbappe on a free transfer
even if the player is currently flirting with real madrid ... the money can quickly turn off the brain of many people and things happen that were not planned before ...

Why are we so optimistic about Haaland's coming to England, will guaranteed Champions league trophy to Manchester City. It they want to sell players for Haaland to come in,they will be surprise that Haaland might be a flop at England. The way England play their football is quite different from that of Bundesliga,Laliga and Seria A.
England's pattern of football is more combative, competitive, and more fierce than any other league. The defenders there are very aggressive and solid to the extent that strikers find it difficult to hit more than 30 goals in a season, unlike bundesliga that can get about 49 goals in a season.
No player in the entire world could guarantee a UCL win for any team. However it is obvious that adding Haaland to City would make them one of the best teams in the world, and looking at the list of players they are willing to off-load to get him, it would not change them for any worse, it would make them much better.
This is why there is a "chance" of him coming, not because he would be willing to, because that is just unknown to which team he wants to go to, but it would be financially possible and there are not that many teams in the world who would be financially possible to make a 200 million move, that is a very rare situation and only a few teams in the entire world could do it. Real is focused on Mbappe, and I doubt they would be able to get both of them, sure they have the funds for it but for both of them? I doubt it. Hence, City is seen as possible since they have so much money.

To me, either City or PSG seems like a good team for Haaland. Or else Real Madrid. City are short of a pure striker and they will want one in the next transfer window and either Haaland, Kane, or Leewa seems like the potential target. And if Real Madrid can sign Mbappe, then PSG has a slot free which can be filled by Haaland, or else if Real are unable to sign Mbappe, they will surely go for Haaland. So all in all, whichever team he goes to, he will get a better title shot than he will be at Dortmund that's for sure.

I just researched it and found a piece of news saying that the new owner of Newcastle could buy Inter Milan for a few billion euros Roll Eyes

I don't know how far this is a rumor or fact, I don't know the reputation of this site either.
But would that really be possible?

This is the site I am referring to: https://today.in-24.com/sport/News/171487.html
I meant in the last season there was rumours circulating in social media about alternatives to Newcastle after the failure of the first purchase attempt. I am talking mainly about EPL clubs but when it comes to Inter, it was suggested also regarding their difficult economic situation especially before them winning the scudetto and selling Lukaku and Hakimi.

In January there will definitely be a lot of big player transfers considering that there are now a lot of targets from big clubs.
I also suspect that Barcelona will not be strong enough to sign Pogba.
Right, it looks like in January there will be a lot of great players available in the transfer market, I personally really want to see how the end of speculation that continues to happen right now, both for Mbappe, pogba, haalaand and also several other star players who continue to be rumored will change clubs , apart from that, I want to see how the new rich club in the english premiere league will be able to tempt a lot of players a large amount of money they have now.

^ Next transfer window we will see teams like Real, Man City buying some quality players. We all know Real is a big admirer of both Mbappe and Pogba. Pogba even has 6 months left in his contract so unless he renews, Real can get him for free. Same case for Mbappe and Antonio Rudiger. Both of them have been a priority target for Real Madrid. And after Aguero left, there has been a vacancy in the striking position in Man City. Lewa and Haaland could be a good fit for them. Overall we will be able to see a very busy transfer window with some big transfers.
Yes you right bro, The January transfer market will be an opportunity for European clubs to improve and add to the quality of their squad, currently there are several clubs that have some problems with their squad, such as madrid, barcelona and even manchester city which now  has limited strikers, in my opinion , January will be a pretty busy month for football clubs later, of course we will see competition from many clubs to be able to get their target players and of course a very big money war will occur in the transfer market later.

January become the most and great chance for many club with his player expired contract if not have agreement for extended club will sell their player on January window transfer. Pogba and Mbappe still not extended new contract with his club and still less than two months later to get agreement between player and team management, if not agreement better club sell Pogba and Mbappe to get much money than keep staying and become free transfer player on end league.

It is a requirement by the law. All players in Spain need to have release clauses inserted into their contracts due to some kind of work legislative.

A lot of players have extremely high clauses - the clubs know they cannot be triggered and are protecting themselves like that.

Barcelona is extremely careful after Neymar's case, whose clause was put to 200 million - also so that no one can trigger it (it was unimaginable when he signed the contract) - but PSG did a few years later.

Interestingly enough, according to the picture I gave above, there are 7 Real Madrid players in the top 10 in terms of the value of release clauses. It seems that Real Madrid understood the importance of this point earlier than other clubs and perhaps that is why it has a much better business situation than Barcelona, which is suffering from a huge debt.

Thanks, that explains it. I thought it seemed bizarre thinking that someone would actually trigger it, and it must just be a PR stunt. I hadn't realised it was a legal requirement. This makes perfect sense now. Although it does seem almost like they're exploiting a legal loophole a bit... if a fee is going to be set at such a level that it will never be triggered, then it can't practically be considered a fee at all. Although as you say, who knows, no-one ever thought Neymar's would get triggered.

According to Bild, Newcastle's new owners are monitoring Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel for the rest of the season. They might be thinking a move for one of them at the end of this season. And I think that they can sign one of them as long as they offer a great deal of money. And as far as we know so far, money is not an issue for the new owners of the team.  Grin  Besides, they are after the players like Werner, Süle and Coutinho. These transfer targets are for the January transfer window as far as I know. Even after the winter transfer window, they can have a really solid lineup as it seems.
Newcastle United are looking very interesting now,but them being able to sign a coach like Jorgen Klopp does not sound possible, not that they can afford the payment, but I don't think he will like to coach a team like Newcastle. It is possible they will be able to sign a player like Coutinho,Werner, and other big name players, but signing Klop will look impossible for them.

They need a coach that's very competent, very capable of making them compete with the top teams in England.some one like Conte is available,to take them to the top.
First time Newcastle United have looking for new club to make easy for management which one player possibility and based on coach style needed, I think management can't buy any player without recommended from coach, always happen many player have in bench because not based on character needed by coach, I think now have two special coach not any club and easy to get their sign without pay transfer value, Conte and Zidane are good solution which one want to be Newcastle Coach in richest club era.

@rahmad2nd I believe the new owners are not realistic, because very few teams sells in January transfer window and no coach in their right mind will come there in January irrespective of the money that they’re doling out.

However at the end of season if they manage to survive in the premier league then we may see them break all transfer records, and i wonder if they will do what City did back then and completely reform themselves.

Rumors of a sell-off at FC Barcelona are growing.

1.35 billion euros in debt: FC Barcelona's economic situation "worrying" and "dramatic"

Gerard Pique has agreed to plays for a lower salary. Other players as Sergi Roberto, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets also agree to plays for a other salary. The club's salary to expensive why they were unable to extend Lionel Messi's contract. And other clubs are hoping for a good deal. Maybe Bayern Munich make a move on these Barca stars… Marc-André ter Stegen?

It depends on which type of debt is it.
For example, even spurs are over 1 billion in debts but the most part is a long-term loan for the stadium.

I don't know the debt of Barca but some money is for sure for the stadium in long term.

Also if the are going to sell players for this reason their price will be reduced since everyone will know that they need to sell.
This article from August presents the justification of Barcelona's president, Joan Laporta:

Quote
The club’s debt included almost 390 million euros ($460 million) related to player salaries, Laporta said. More than 670 million euros ($790 million) was debts with banks, while some 40 million euros ($47 million) was linked to membership losses. The impact of the coronavirus pandemic was 91 million euros ($107 million), he said.
Barcelona’s president says club’s debt now at $1.6 billion

The pandemic hurted soccer clubs' income in general and I think it couldn't be the main reason to explain why Barcelona exclusively is in huge debt right now.
It seems you are right in your guess because the debt with banks (the higher one) may be related to expenses with their stadium, what is really surprising as it reaches to an amount superior to all another debts' added.

Moreover, currently president of Barcelona blames the previous administration for the financial issue the club is facing right now, while being criticized by the fan base for not doing enough effort to keep Messi on the team.

I've just seen that Pedri has signed a new contract with Barca. The release clause? 1 billion Euros. I know Barca need a cash injection, but that's absolutely crazy. It should put him beyond the reach of even PSG and Man City... in which case, what's the point of even having the clause? Presumably Pedri's agent believes that someone somewhere would actually consider paying up such an amount. Or is it just a PR exercise, they have no belief that anyone would ever trigger it, and it's purely about making news, and saying "look how good he is, he's worth a billion!"?

It is expected that Newcastle United's Saudi owners will buy another major club in order to expand their empire. All the best to those who are competing with them! Do you think two clubs can be in the same league? Is it strange to hear that? Complete madness to me!
Didn't read this information in any news and I doubt Saudis will go for another club. When their first attempt to get Newcastle last season failed, they didn't search for alternatives AFAIK. Now their first focus will be to build the team from scratch, signing new, top coach and players. Spending and diverting money in more than 1 club isn't a good strategy imo.
