whoever thinks money doesn't bring happiness and being rich brings sadness or as op puts it "The changes it can bring to someones surroundings are sometimes devastating"; feel free to give all your sadness to me. i will accept it with open arms and embrace the dark.

A lot of people think that having a ton of cash equals a happy life, this sadly is not true.

I read a post on reddit that i will never forget, the statistics are there and will astound you. Sure money makes things a lot easier.
The changes it can bring to someones surroundings are sometimes devastating when you can't handle it/ are not prepared. Therefore i shall link you to the reddit post for you to read, and if we get some money in the future we should prepare ourselves!

https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/24vo34/whats_the_happiest_5word_sentence_you_could_hear/chb38xf/

Maybe it is correct but i know that in my country being poor means being unhappy like suffering desperately...
If you are poor, you can not have a social life, you can not use medical services (govermental insurances are extremely useless, they dont do anything at all...) you can not buy enough food for your family, you can not provide a good education for your children etc etc. How can you be happy like that?

The fact you need money can not be argued with unless you live under communism. The real question you should ask yourself is how much is enough and more importantly how much is to much for me to handle. I know we all want all the money in the world but look at the statistics and think about it for some time. Money changes a person so much over such a short time period that it is frightening.

I will tell you how much i want, i want to be able to live on my interests. If that means 2000 dollars a month that is fine by me. However i know myself (huge tech freak, own the awesome vive) and i am affraid i may not be the strong person i wish to be.

Time enough to think about it and create a plan!

It can give you more comfort in life but money can not buy time, health and family but if I have a large amount of money then I will spend that money to help those who need it and invest in to continue to make a profit.
Why money can not buy time?If I need to do a job, but I find a person, give her money and she does this work for me.And I have free time. So time can be bought

That's true, there are a lot of rich folks who have a lot of possessions and can afford anything but are not happy or satisfied with their life. The world revolves around money but we have to keep in mind that there is more to life than getting rich. Some people's end goal in life is to become rich, and spend a lot of effort and time to earn money. Money is unarguably a necessity but really it is not a measure of one's success.

I like this post in a forum clearly dominated by greed. And I agree with OP.

yes me too, i agree with that opinion and really thank you for giving information that can remind us to prepare ourselves if it will happen to us
I surely agree money has nothing to do with happiness and, moreover, people even become very sad if they realize they can buy so much but they can't decide what they want and can't make themselves happy. However, this doesn't mean that having money is bad or anything. It really depends in people. On this forum we mostly discuss ways to earn money and maybe this money won't bring us happiness but perhaps it can help our kids and other relatives. I think it is pleasant to feel you made a successful investment or deal anyway.

I agree and disagree. With that said, it takes about $70K and you can get just about anything you want (at least in America per year). So, when you have a house, food, car, and don't have to worry about core expenses life can be a lot easier.

I've never understood this figure. I make $88,000 and my wife makes 50,000$ and we live in a crappy 100,000$ house (in Des Moines Iowa so cheapest place to live in the country, in not a great neighborhood.) and she drives a 15 year old car. (I drive a 2012 jeep) I guess we have student loans but honestly I'm broke all the time. My friends assume with my salary that I"d have some money but I have no money ever. :/

I don't know what that figure should be but I feel like it should be 120,000$ per person or 240,000 household.

Either you're absolutely full of shit or you're in dire need of help from somebody that knows how to manage money because you obviously don't know how.

When I was in my early twenties I bought a 135K (after downpayment) house on a 50-55k wage and though I wasn't flush with excess money I still did fine.  If I had to guess, you waste it all on starbucks and going out to eat 2x a day like most people.

There is no way you should be broke on 138K when your mortgage is $600 and car payments should be nonexistent or relatively cheap.

That's an eye opening discussion of what happens to people suddenly becoming rich because of lottery. Winning the lottery is something similar to investing in an altcoin who suddenly shoots up in value making the investor or trader millionaire. A lot of things will happen and change like your lifestyle and your point of view but there are times when you wanted to retain what was used to be but you can't go back anymore because people who surrounds you knew it and will try to get hold of your wealth. New friends and relatives would appear and strangers coming wanted to have a share too but you can control it if you just have to control yourself the moment you obtain your wealth like not announcing to every body or being boastful. If possible, plan some necessary measures in case you obtain such wealth because you don't want to end up like what happen to those who suddenly become wealthy who destroyed their lives. You can be happy with your money if you can use it properly.
