And with possible useful information.
Better to make an adblock rule or something

I found a great solution to the problem of annoying forum signatures - I just ignore anybody with coloured backgrounds or larger than default font sizes in their signatures. Now I can browse the forum without my eyes bleeding.

It's my 1st day of whoring out my signature space, and I must say, that in this forum - sigs are quite unnoticeable visually.

It's same 4-5 sites for everyone, and after 30 minutes of browsing your brain simply filters them out.

By useless I mean: '+1', 'yeah', 'good idea', etc
I don't condone useless posts but I think a tiny proportion of such posts can be tolerated
Except if you are displaying ads in your sig IMO, so the idea is to make this strictly forbidden: deletion of posts, then PM warning, then ban even if they are not spamming

Pretty sure theymos said that should be treated as spam. Just try report to moderator.
I never did because the amount of tolerance towards such posts seems high here. I'll try to do it now.

If it annoys you, just install ad-block and make a rule for the signatures to block them. Since only a couple of people do it at the moment and they do it with very distinctive colours and codes this should be easy.

No need for that.
Profile -> Look and Layout Preferences -> Don't show users' signatures.
The problem is that some signatures are useful and link to things I'd never look at by myself.
I don't know if it's popular and if it would be easy to implement (I think so) but a list of ignored signatures would be nice.

Good to know! Even easier.
I guess if it becomes a problem the users giving away the money would probably just not give money out to such users.
Not necessarily. It benefits them if their ads are more conspicuous (though it can have an inverse effect if they become annoying).
I just meant that the users offering it just now would put the forum first so would support the forum if this was an issue and make it clear that they wouldn't be paid if they were not posting constructive messages. But it does support them if they are more obvious.

Pay to post get paid for quality post,

I think the community is ready for such an experiment.

It would also be a good example for how "in-house" bitcoin micro-transaction can improve and sanitize Internet interactions.

We can do it!

That is a whole different animal.

Insubstantial posts like that are off-topic and should be deleted in any case.

As for the OP . . . +1

I don't think it is much of a problem. I also don't think there is much way of stopping it.

Hi jackjack, i'm the guy whose rambling post you've commented on in the newbie section, and you were surprised when i pointed out that many noobs rack up ~50 posts/hr.
I doubted that much can be done about it.  Since accounts on this forum are worth money to some, and daily wages in parts of the world are the price of a cup of coffee for you & me, i doubt any human policing will make a dent.  Maybe a script counting printable characters, but then the easy-to-ignore spam might turn into wall-o-text spam.  I think this qualifies as a first world problem. I'm sure people paying for post do a little bit of research, before paying, no?

Edit: I do think a tiny proportion of such posts can be tolerated
The point was about when it's more than tiny or if the user has ads in his signature

Not at all is a valid proposal too though, far better than the current mess

It's a good idea. Maybe a little extra work for the staff of the forum, but I'm sure they won't mind. I think if they have given advise on something and summed it up in a few words and can't possibly go further in depth then that is fine.
But, I just saw a user which posted around 20 of the same one word replies. Saying "Yeah", "Awesome" and other NON useful posts.

So temping to just write "+1" and that's it....

I think this is a good idea.  Those posts almost always add nothing and there's no reason for them to be around except for people getting post count up.
