so far as I know if you lose your private key you can not get into your wallet because the key mew has a different private key and it is not possible if someone can memorize the key because it is so long then you be careful if you keep the private key in and I recommend keeping it in some parts so that if you lose one of your keys you can see it in another place where you saved your private key

I have forgotten my MyEtherWallet.com password, I still have the json file but not the password.
Is there a way to change password or get into my wallet with that file?
What can I do to recover the wallet?

Can you look at this and see how it goes for you?

You said your remember some part of it, I suggest you write it down and maybe one day you will woke up and have the password in your mind. Goodluck!!

I am very sad when i see this kind of moment, you will never recover your password, it is your responsibility to store in secure and easy to find place, it is not like gmail and yahoo in which you can click forgot password. I hope you dont have much coin and must serve a lesson.

Just try to remember the password you put with the JSON file... You can try also to open your wallet with the private key they provided you when you created your MEW Wallet, I think you have save if somewhere... If you open it... Try to transfer it to your new wallet...

No, create the new wallet now. MEW password lost means no way to login in it by Json file. If you have the private key, you can join by this way but it is the risk way to use. Please careful

MyEtherWallet uses a private key to access user account, I do not think if you really remember a password. Just a suggestion, you can keep the private key and passwords you created well and store them in various places.

It is best to use the JOHNSON code to open your wallet and transfer all to each new wallet

If you forgot your password, you need to retrieve by your private key that is the most important thing.
He wont ask such thing if he had the private key yet those are the main option on accessing MEW wallet either on Private keys or on JSON file.

woow that bad . why you forgot your MEW Password, that cannot be restored brother. but if u have json file.  you can still login with that.  how many token u have on your wallet?
Its none of your business on how many tokens is inside on that wallet and it seems you haven't read the OP yet as being said he forgot the password of the json file where its hard to bruteforce if you do completely forgot password hints and as suggested above there are some recovery services but it wont still give you guarantees and since this issue is from January we don't know if op did able to recover those funds back or not.

What does brute forcing the password means? How to do it? I might remember some part of it, or at least I can guess some, but what is the procedure?
Is it saved in that .json file in an encrypted form or something?
Forcing to know your password in such ways through some recovery services or programs created for it. As encrypted form that will be more of a challenge to recover your password, if you can't remember your password try to look for people who are offering such service like this one..

I would say contact him: https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/walletrecoveryservices-130960 for wallet recovery.
Good luck to your recovery, by the way how many tokens and ETH you hold on that wallet?
