That's why you still have it there. We read all the comments and take the suggestions seriously. And no, the number is not used for OTP or anything at all.

If it is only a formality and a valid number is not required, then why is it a field to begin with? It is odd to request information that could be invalid...unless there is a purpose for when the field is filled validly. What will you do with valid phone numbers that are submitted?
