It's there as a precautionary so that new members do not get tied up in scams.
It's not, it's directly accusing the forum of being ran by scammers, not scammers being members of the forum.

And what's wrong with that? Due to the huge amount of scammers, in ways it's ran by scammers and  it's better that new members know that so they are not victims.

That's not Goat, that belongs to....can't recall the name. He's not anybody well known or anything.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/helporg-77278

That's him, probably never would've remembered that. They (the haters who just complain and throw accusations) all kind of blend together after a while Tongue.

Yeah...actually I only remembered him because I found his FUD particularly annoying at one point in time.

There are a lot of scammers I will agree, I myself have been victim to it more than once. But the fact of selling accounts is kinda irrelevant because not a LOT of scammers buy it, it's mostly for the sig campaigns, said many times before.

I wouldn't say Theymos encourages it. The staff is pretty clear on the fact that it cannot be effectively policed. What is supposed to be done, exactly?
Exactly, there's the difference between encouraging it and just stating that there's no way to enforce such a rule.

I google "Bitcoin forums" and find Bitcointalk.com.

Guess what is on their Home page.

BitcoinTalk Discussion Board - WARNING – While Bitcointalk.org has a wealth of information about Bitcoin and some very knowledgeable members be aware that the site is run by scammers.  Do not trust any of the ads even if they are endorsed by the site administrators.  The site also encourages the sale of accounts you can never be sure who you are dealing with.

Are we happy with that?

What would the reason be for that?

Anyone have an idea?

It's been there a couple of years. I agree with what it says about site ads (one claiming there has never been a better time to buy mining equipment comes to mind). To be fair there is a warning under the ads stating that they are not endorsed by the forum.

I'm not sure the site "encourages" sale of accounts, but it is allowed. I doubt it could be stopped anyway.

Whether that makes them scammers is a matter of opinion I guess..
