There is no confirmation on either side so far, although we do have a user that claims there is a keylogger. I would advise that you don't use it until we know for a fact it is safe.

So does anyone know if this software is safe?

Monitored network activity under Chrome and didn't see the extension doing anything at all, let alone logging keystrokes...... I might look into that more if I have some time.

I'd love it if the author releases the source code. After all most of us are using some sort of proprietary software. I'm on Linux so I'm less worried

It is possible that it could have been obfuscated, but the real question is why would the creator obfuscate the code if they had nothing to hide at all? You could argue that it is against competitors, but there are none. 

The warning is invalid. The source code was obfuscated and I don't see a way to understand its functionalities.
