Who uses these gambling sites?

Dragon's Tale
A casino site, but gives out small amounts for free that you can use to gamble with or withdraw to your own Bitcoin wallet.

Seals with Clubs
Seals has a free poker tournament every hour with a .05BTC prize. There are larger free tournaments from time to time.
See here for more info.

Strike Sapphire
See here for more info.

Do they still give away free bitcoins... have free rolls etc... while not having any wagering requirements that would keep people from freely withdrawing the coin to ones own wallet?

CoinAd doesn't seem to be working.  Click the send button and it just spins away and doesn't show the "sent" message.

Smallest payout I have ever seen from a Free Bitcoin site at 0.00001, but maybe it will improve...   Cheesy

Yes, it is unlikely to be a scam.

Here is a link which gives a little more information about Coinbase, for those that don't already know.

Bitcoin Receives Venture Capital Attention, Indirectly Through Coinbase
Written on August 4, 2012

Quote
... I wanted to take this time to highlight a very substantial event that happened just recently. This story has to do with a little start-up company known as Coinbase. Coinbase’s mission is to enable payment via email, of the bitcoin currency, similar to what Paypal did with US dollars over a decade ago. Y-combinator had just recently funded this company with the likes $164,000.00 and a three month acceptance into the highly prestigious y-combinator start-up class. This may not seem significant at first, but when you really look at what is happening here, you start to realize how profound this is. Since y-combinator is a venture capital firm, they have taken the careful first step of sinking institutional money into a company that is in direct proximity with bitcoin, the peer to peer digital currency. This is HUGE. Whilst no investment firms thus far have sunken VC money into bitcoin directly (at least publicly), this investment into Coinbase by Y-combinator makes a very bold statement to the world.

Y-combinator is a venture capital recruiting camp of sorts, for start-up companies. Y-combinator is not just any vc firm, they are one of the most notable across the globe, and is headed by one of the early founders of Yahoo, Paul Graham. They’ve successfully incubated the growth of companies by the names of reddit, dropbox, airbnb, and the like. Coinbase was accepted into the y-combinator program in June. Do you see where this is going? ...

Any coins add up nicely in a wallet, especially those recovered from a possible scam.
