UPDATE:
My appeal was rejected... Based on TradeFortress' false copyright claim...
Now i can never access my personal files on that server ever again.

It's payback time.

You stole my money;
You ruined a perfectly legal website and made me lose access to personal files;

Can you get the documentation from your hosting provider? Surely they should be able to provide you with whatever proof of copyright ownership TradeFortress gave them. Please share it. It may help the people to whom he owes money.

I am left wondering why anyone would want to use that code anyway? I was just telling another member how inputs faucets always looked like and ad agency threw up on them.

if you don't have "You are allowed to modify the work" (or literal equivalent) in damn straight writing, you don't have the right
"I have proof of being allowed to modify the source code."
You don't get it, do you?
where is the proof? why didn't you show it to your host if you had proof..

im betting your "proof" is going to make me laugh again

remember: the ONLY "proof" for copyright is straight, written, "you have permission".

Cringe-worthy and Entertaining.  I'm most definitely on bitcointalk.org.

Seriously though, where is this proof?

On his website, where he hosts the script's source.

Go to google.com
Right click
View source

that give you the right to use google's js code? no. not to say modify.

Besides that, he whitelisted my modified website before.

LOL. are you brain dead?

counts for nothing. if you don't have "You are allowed to modify the work" (or literal equivalent) in damn straight writing, you don't have the right (except for narrow fair use which you dont fall in, at all). period. doesn't matter anything else tf does, he can link to your faucet right on the home page of inputs.io and you still dont have a ground to stand on.

I'm afraid you are wrong. I have proof of being allowed to modify the source code. I did not redistribute the code.

I'm afraid that you have brain damage.

Wow, so you steal someone's work and you think it is acceptable? TF wrote the script, he has every right to do what he want with it and control how it is used. If you don't like it write code from scratch instead of leeching off others work.
I had the right to use and configure the code. Which is exactly what i did. I did not steal anyone's work. I did not make this fork public.
Just read the thread.

Where does it state you have the right to use and configure the code?
besides, you just keep on popping back up with 1 lame excuse: that TF stole 4100 BTC lol
Even though I'm pissed at inputs, it is still irrelevant to the topic.

On his website, where he hosts the script's source. Besides that, he whitelisted my modified website before.

Also, i'm aware i shouldn't be using the 4100 BTC theft as an excuse. It's just kindof a dick move of him after doing so much damage. It's just immoral for thieves of his size to claim copyright for something he granted me the right to modify...

ITT: people misunderstand copyright

> You specifically whitelisted the ip address of the website... i have been granted the right to modify your code and thats exactly what i did.

I spit my drink.

Am I missing something? you're running a commercial (ad supported) venture, you are using someone else's code, you do not have permission from the developer to modify it, you complain? Really?

I feel bad for defending TF as he still owes me money, but LOL, you deserve it.

Let me know if you'd like me to arrange hosting for your website. You can contact me preferrably via GPG or XMPP which is in my sig, or via PM.

Romania does not have any DMCA laws. Smiley

The DC will also forward all abuse complaints directly to you to handle and will not react to any threatening letters regardless of what it is about.

If you need somewhere safe to register a domain I would recommend https://anonymousspeech.com
Thank you.
For now i'll just wait for my host to approve my website again.

1) Without a copyright license distributed, the only rights remaining are those that are guaranteed by copyright law. Please provide provide me with where I have granted you permission to create derivative works of MyFaucet.
2) Irrelevant in this scenario.
3) No and https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/tu-quoque

I have an email conversation with you where i requested my website (with a modified version of myfaucet) to be whitelisted for the inputs.io API.
You specifically whitelisted the ip address of the website... i have been granted the right to modify your code and thats exactly what i did.

Now shut the fuck up and repay what you stole from us.

Also, i will continue making new free faucets. Good luck claiming copyright.

I was contacted by TradeFortress:

Quote
Hi,

As the copyright holder of MyFaucet, I'm requesting taking down your myfaucet instance modded with Coinbase. MyFaucet is not open source software, and you do not have the right to modify it, nor distribute modified versions. I would recommend taking it down before exhausting both of our time, gitorious.org's time, and any host of MyFaucet software's time with legal boilerplate forms.

1) Where's the software license? Your code was forked BEFORE you added the little note on your website.
2) You kinda contacted the wrong guy; i didn't do the modification myself (although i was planning to)
3) You owe the community 4100 BTC... You quite literally stole the money that i had trusted to you.
4) Please do take legal action. I'm sure lots of people on here would love that. And i'm sure lots of people here would love to have your contact info.

with kind regards,
Martijn
