I'm new here... How can I get some bitcoins and then what do I do with them?

You can get some btc at faucets and you can use them like money (you can't chargeback!),but it's just digital, every transaction is visible on blockchain (which is good) and i recommend you to read the whitepaper of bitcoin. It will explain you a lot of things. Smiley

Digressing a bit but your comment made me realize that all transactions being visible on the blockchain would be a privacy issue, no?

Free BTC Giveaways on Bitcointalk

If this post is incomplete or incorrect, don't hesitate to post here or PM me.

HIGHEST PAYING FAUCETS (order of payout rates):

Freebie Coin FreebieCo.in 800 Satoshi an hour!

{snip snip}
this needs some updates freebieco is currently inactive and thee 800 satoshi an hour was onlyon first day now it is 200

It was always 200 every 15 minutes which is 800 an hour. But it is now over.

Can we do any of these on our phone?

If you have a twitter account then yes you can!

Is it really worth the time? I guess in the long term, it would be better to do something that adds value for the long term

If you want a few mBTCs to play around with this is a simple way to get them. If you really want to make BTC, consider offering your services in the services section.

Well said. If you just want to learn how to receive a bitcoin payment, you could try faucets for a day.
But if you want to earn some serious amount of bitcoin, you shouldn't waste your time on faucets IMHO.

Btw, you need to fix the bitcoinker link in the OP. Tongue

which of these are most worth it?

IMHO, the 777coin one (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/777coin-full-range-of-games-instant-withdraw-free-mbtc-254871, 0.0001 btc daily, no requirement on activity) and the scratch ticket one (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/new-bitcoin-scratchticketcom-free-btc-new-user-promo-467870, 0.0015 btc, 30+ activity) are the best on-going giveaway. Smiley
All of these giveaways are defacto faucets that only encourage spam on the forum. Faucets are not a good use of your time and you stand to be able to make much more bitcon by otherwise earning money and getting paid in bitcoin

Well if I have to watch annoying ads and solve 10 different captcha on 10 different sites to get 1000 satoshi, it is of course a complete waste of time. But if I only have to spend less than 10 seconds to type my username to get 0.0001 btc a day, it is much better.

Another problem with faucets is that you are collecting dusts and you will need to pay a lot of tx fee in the future when trying to spend the dust outputs. But for gambling sites' giveaway, you can get it directly on your account balance and so it wouldn't bloat the blockchain nor fill your wallet with dusts.
