Maybe its off-topic and I am wrong about my views, but I want to mention one thing here usually on cricket topics we are having members from the India, Pakistan and few from other regions which is important fact about pools usually when any Pakistani having pool we have no Indian or just one or two and when we have any Indian then we have the good number of members as participants in this pool this mind-set having problem here.
If we have no problem like this then most chances in every pool of IPL, PSL, T20i World Cup or ODI World Cup we can have nearly 15 to 20 members which are still good number for any pool and this can create good positive atmosphere about the pool and prize as well.

Not true, Its just your mind. As far I remembered, when I managed first compaign here , we got 30+ members woth the fact that I am Pakistani.  Most of supporters were Indians. Libert19 support me more than any other members.

Congratulations all winners and best wishes for all members.

I don't see that this mindset exists in the cricket community that is already very small. Also, no prediction contest stopped anyone from any nation personals from joining. If somehow some of the people do not join some contest than they must have other reasons for that but not this particular reason.

Also we (or I only know) a few persons as they have openly declared that they belong to which country and some others who are active in my local board (Pakistan) and for many members I even do not know which nation they are representing.

In cricket the problem is - there are no longer version of leagues like football leagues. For one months tournament mostly advertisers do not want to spend a lot of money, not even $500.
Yeah. This make sense. Fact is that cricket isn't as popular as football within this forum thanks to which advertisers don't really focus much on it despite its growing popularity around the world.

Incorrect. I have seen plenty of people from different countries take part in these contests over the years thanks to their mutual love for the sport.

Not really, I am Indian and I sent PMs to several other Indians which I find participating in cricket thread discussions, only one joined, and there was no response from others, and I have no problem with that, no need to join if there is no interest.

Personally, I love contests, and I don't care who posts it, I'll join as long as topic meets my eye.

So you can imagine if people aren't showing interest in the free contest, it will be even harder to convince them for paid contests.

Rich people these days browse bitcointlak. $100 to $500 or even $1000 is not a good amount for them. Go and find a sponsor who will spend $10,000 or more. Give them an opportunity to earn a few thousands from the prize pool, I am sure you will see 30 or more members joining and active in the pool :-D

At times, it could be depressing because lack of responses but in a good season one could find 12-15 active members who are willing to pay. At worst, 7-8 members.

I do not agree with this as this one was free contest where there was no joining fee and we had around 16 members participating but by the time we reached Super 8s and later stages only 8 or 9 remained active. So you can imagine if people aren't showing interest in the free contest, it will be even harder to convince them for paid contests.

I've noticed 2 prediction threads for the t-20 WC and at least 3 separate threads for the IPL, not including the main T-20 thread.

This one: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/icc-mens-t20-world-cup-2024-cricket-prediction-and-discussion-5494879

Yeah, I don't understand purpose of creating such topics either when there is already main t20 (or odi/test) discussion thread, but IMO for contests having their own discussion thread is justified, not separate but just allow discussion within the contest announcement topic.

Well, when you see the gambling discussion board, you will find so many threads for the football fans. For every League, World Cup, Euro, Copa America etc there are separate threads so what is the harm if we have a seperate disccuson threads for the cricket main events too. See this thread ICC Men's T20 World Cup - 2024 #Cricket Prediction and Discussion and you will find around 25+ pages being created during the duration of the tornament which suggest that there is enough participations in these discussion threads.

In my experience, Sponsors always help but for a paid contest, just creating the main thread is not enough. One should also approach several active members via cricket threads or PMs (if you've interacted with them enough in the forum). At times, it could be depressing because lack of responses but in a good season one could find 12-15 active members who are willing to pay. At worst, 7-8 members. In the last couple of seasons, I got damn busy irl otherwise I'd have taken this initiative but I will try to get into it again from the next IPL season.

I did PM members actively commenting in cricket threads for this contest, most of them responded well and joined the contest, but some despite joining didn't make all picks, so competition was between 8 members despite having 16 contestants on the board.

~snip~.

As long as there are sponsors, I don't mind creating such contests, we could do paid ones but they don't gather much traction amongst limited cricket community nonetheless I'd like to try that sometime.

Regarding separate threads, there was only this thread for this contest, am I misunderstanding?

It's the same old story.

Overall, one observation, it would've been great if we had more engagement and discussions. At times, I felt the vibes kinda went down but still had some fun. CT will come soon so Keep em coming libert19 and it would be a lot better if we don't have multiple threads for one competition, noticing this trend for some time or I dare to say some sort of competition between individuals, it's not good for the small cricket community because we are already small community and hardly any outsider takes us seriously.

Anyway, Cheers finally we have a trophy lol. Guess not keeping your hope up does wonders sometimes xD. I remember many (including me) were having a laugh about the Indian jersey but now the very same jersey is in history books.

This time it was against SA, I knew there is chance  Grin

I was all for South Africa but they choked again unfortunately. At some stage they needed 30 runs out of 30 balls. Millar and Klaasen was in the pitch. From that point how can a team loss the match. Only the chokers can show it to the world :-D

...and the top 3s are @UmerIdrees @JSRAW @Haunebu. — Having seen cricketing knowledge of latter two, and from the observation from other competitions, I expected you two be there, so it wasn't a surprise particularly however @Umerldrees was a surprise who snatched the top spot at later stages.

I am very much active in the cricket discussions too but yeah this is my first time , topping any prediction contest. It was a close call and i was lucky as i got more of the margin correctly predicted.  Smiley

Had a blast playing along with all of you as usual. Happy to see India winning after 13 freaking years, but sad to see South Africa choking yet again though in the final this time around.

Turned out to be an amazing final as expected. @UmerIdrees deserved the top spot thanks to some great margin predictions. Top 3 finish is cool though the margins between top 5 were pretty small.

Please post your BTC addresses so @AB de Royse777 can process the payments.

Congratulations Team India on winning the finals. They truly deserve it. The team showed character and stood firm under a lot of pressure. It was not an easy win but a win that was snatched from South Africans.

Coming to the contest, here is the final top 3 standings.

Congratulations to JSRAW & Haunebu and many thanks to libert19 for organizing this contest.

Congratulations, guys. Well deserved.

I can't wait to have more such contests to participate in. It was great, and I really enjoyed competing with all the other players in the competition. I was literally 1 point away from being in the top three, but anyway, better luck next time to everyone who participated, including myself.  Smiley
