It's an EOS wallet not ESO wallet for correction, I think there is no freebie on creating EOS wallet you need some EOS just by creating a wallet. But in some existing wallet like imtoken you can create or activate an EOS account but not paid directly by EOS coin but instead of Eth sounds odd but its true. Unlike other network you just need to pay for a gas before you can make any transaction .while EOS is a quite different u need to buy or stake for RAM,NET and CPU before you can make any transactions that's why for the EOS first time users its a little bit complicated.

Those might on recieving eos but not with the tokens on eos network or using dapps. And i highly would recommend op to try pay for one, then you have name of your choice for life and you get to understand better the whole eos project by playing with it. Exchange doesn't give that experience.

You can find opportunities to pay the wallet as an alternative, so far, I haven't seen any ESO wallet that is free. To resolve that, you can start on free wallet, make a trading then the profit can be settled down to buy your ESO wallet. In my speculation, it might just take you 1 week, depends on how good you are in trading rather than paying desired amount just to open up your wallet.

There is no problem to have an EOS wallet, there is a problem to have own private key because to create such account you need to pay fee to block producers.
Many cloud wallets like Huobi Wallet or Cobo Wallet offers you to create "shared" wallet, but you will never own the private keys, that means that you have to trust such companies that they will not cheat you.

EOS wallets on exchanges are not a good choice because you don't control them and they can only store EOS. The fee for creating an EOS wallet is only a few dollars. It is not a very expensive price for you to have a wallet that you own.

I have never heard of ESO wallet, what I have heard is EOS wallet, do you mean that EOS wallet? if the EOS wallet then you must pay it so that the wallet you make can be active to make transactions, because an inactive wallet obviously cannot be used, and to activate it you must continue to pay.

Just to add here, can you really call it a fee? The small Eos you're going to deposit is still yours isn't it? That makes the wallet still free.

Other wallets like Stellar and Tron also does this if I am not mistaken.

I made an EOS wallet and paid $ 2 and made it on SCATTER but for the free one I don't think there is, because I haven't found a discussion about a free EOS wallet.

If what you mean is Eos, I don't think there is a legit Eos that doesn't require a deposit to be activated. It shouldn't take you that much to get it running.

I think the OP means EOS wallet!
IF you need that wallet then I will recommend to you SCATTER as it is the one i am using now.
You just need to activate your wallet by sending a small amount of EOS to the address and memo give on it.
If you have a friend with EOs then you can talk to him to send you some or if you don't have you need to send it from the exchange but first, you need to buy there.
