What math background is needed for the course?

The course is mostly self contained, however some knowledge of discrete probability will be helpful. The wikibooks article on discrete probability should give sufficient background.

That's a relief. However, as far as I know, to really understand cryptography, you have to know some crazy high level math.

Crazy high on math?

Count me out!

Don't let the course description fool you. It's insanely hard for anyone who isn't good at advanced algebra. I'd post an example question here, but I'm pretty sure that's against the rules.

Yeah this is cool,
First week is already available.
You get a certificate of completion also, which seems noteworthy if it says anything about stanford on it.

Hehe - he mentions digital cash in the intro, though he does not mention BTC! Smiley Maybe we can donate to him some BTC!
