I have use free vps from Amazon for a year, a little slower but is ok. I tried Windows azure too but they banned you if you use too much bandwidth or cpu resources.
don't abuse them then, and pay for them if you like them?

Free doesn't exist with these things. And if they do, there probably is a big catch.
And VPS are not expensive at all, you can get them for a few bucks per month.
