That's the big problem, they don't give much importance to the most important thing like the wallet, they don't even have an idea that a bad wallet can take away everything they have.

Newbies often try to find services that are easy to start with (custodial ones take less time) and seem to be the cheapest. For example in google query about Freewallet fees gets more clicks every month then query like "Is freewallet legit". I tried to explain it on the website, But I can't because all people I know take care about safety more then about some extra profit. And I don't have other ideas how to stop this scam attempts.

These wallets were never good, they are online to scam crypto users. All the complaints against Freewallet in this forum are enough for crypto users to stay away from this wallet to keep their funds safe. But it's very disappointing that crypto users don't try to be aware of these allegations and thus get cheated by these scammers. If you check Freewallet's forum account you can see how bad their reputation is, their profiles have been tagged by DT members a long time ago.

When people create/registrate crypto wallets they usually not look to forums BEFORE some issues happen to them. But more often users check reviews in google for example. That's why it's really important to make repost of scam accusations - that's how the possibility that user will find bad reviews is higher.

But when they get scammed by depositing funds in bad wallets, they complain about those wallets, but if they had done a little minimum research before using that wallet, they wouldn't have been in all these situations. Hopefully crypto users will continue to be smart in the days to come and prioritize the safety of their funds.

Let me tell you right at the beginning that every crypto exchange would block your account if you deposited such an amount without first verifying it. The only difference is that most CEX would probably solve it much sooner than these scammers you are currently dealing with, but I can also tell you that you must not give up because you will never get that money back.

Of cource, because it's CEX. It's normal when exchange or some other service has strict KYC measures because they need it to have opportunity to attach fiat payments. But a WALLET must be anonymous or close to it, because it's a CRYPTO WALLET. Of course freewallet scammers may answer that "you could see it in our terms of service, it's your fault that you dodn't pay attention".

But still it's closer to a fraud, but just a little bit "legal fraud"

If you have the money to hire a lawyer who would send a warning e-mail on your behalf with the threat of a lawsuit, maybe that would speed up the whole process. Otherwise, you can expect to receive your money tomorrow or wait a few more months.

What do you think is the best non-custodial wallet on the web?
Note that web wallets can be vulnerable to hack attacks.

For ETH is Metamask good enough?
Metamask is a non-custodial wallet and gives you full access to your private keys. It's also open-source.
The problem with metamask is that it's an online wallet and it's not recommended to use an online wallet. If you want more security, you can go for a hardware wallet.

Yes it's good enough, I used it for years without any problems. There is also a Myetherwallet that allows it to be connected to a hardware wallet. Both are open source code.
Fyi, non-custodial wallets have different management and asset responsibilities in your hands.

The same way the rush to use coinbase.com, blockchain wallet and custodial services like banks. Most people don't want responsibility. They want another company or service to be responsible for their money and log in details so that when they forget the passwords, they just press Forgot password
Blockchain wallet is not a custodial wallet, there is no option to recover your account or wallet back with forgot password. But the wallet (blockchain.com) is highly not recommendable because users are lured to provide KYC, it is a web wallet and it encourages cloud seed phrase backup.

I dont understand why do people still use freewallet ? Hoping it's not because of the word free in their name. Anyway, they're known scammers. OP you should have done a simple google search before using it.

But I prefer to use these wallets as you have said above rather than this Freewallet.org which is very well known that are selectively scamming its users.
The problem with these custodial wallets is that very sensitive to the KYC which become a problem in the future and also, very poor when it comes to their customer support.

Another scam accusation thread of freewallet.org.

They even draw up their TOS that they have right to suspend your account at any time (and this time comes after first withdrawal!).
You didn't hesitate to deposit your money even though you know this?

Hello all, just wanna warn you about Freewallet.org
I have been a bit stupid to use it without looking through this forum beforehands  Sad The site sleeps your caution by professional design and Google play/Apple apps. What they do is just block your crypto after trying to withdraw any funds. When you deposit it all looks OK. I got account suspension after the very first transaction for withdrawing funds to ETH wallet (about $100 value). The system supposed it "suspicious" and they don't wanna give me any cent back without proper "identification". They even draw up their TOS that they have right to suspend your account at any time (and this time comes after first withdrawal!).

You don't have to be here to check if Freewallet.org has scam reports you just carry in your heart that if you don't own the key you don't own your coins, this is a hard lesson to accept, there are many pitfalls and traps when you are responsible to your coins and part of that responsibility is to be educated on how custodial and noncustodial wallet works, yours is a good history to share on why people should not trust custodial wallet, you're basically given them a chance to own your coins.
