Little by little mass adoption for the cryptocurrency is in reach if this movement continuously spread in different countries. Kudos to the French Ministry of National Education for this big step to educate the teenager about modern technology.

In principle, this is a logical move of the French government, because all the positive news related to cryptocurrencies and blockchain come from this country. The government is serious about using this new kind of digital asset. Therefore, in addition to the school, it would be cool if the faculty of cryptocurrencies opened in some University.

Its good that the French government took a nice step by making the high school students have the proper knowledge and awareness of what cryptocurrency and blockchain entail but after checking the article I see that news was not even new.

It looks like the French are going big with Bitcoin now, we also saw some news lately where 24,000 licensed tobacco shops are going to accept

bitcoin now and also provide services where people can buy bitcoins.

Let's hope this will help to trigger mainstream adoption in France, because we need more Bitcoin tourist destinations for people to spend their

bitcoins.   Wink

This will definitely trigger mainstream adoption of crypto in France because the last time I checked French is a lover of nicotine and in 2013 1 million people use e-cigarettes there.

it's old news! the article has been around for almost a month and a thread has been made about it in this forum(link below). but it is still great to know that a school finally is teaching
the students about new technology(which they should have been doing for a long time now).

What can I add to this topic and this interesting article? Just no comments. I am really impressed. Of course I think that lots of people heard about the attempts of different universities to implement some course like that in the universities and high schools, and it was not a great surprise to learn about it. But I am really impressed about the direction that teachers have chosen - like the comparing with the fiat money, opportunities and the role of the Bitcoin and crypto for the finance and so on. But what impressed me even more - the real adoption of crypto by the services or shops in France. So they really see the crypto as a mean for payment)) It gives us the real hope that crypto is looked like something serious.

Applying lessons about bitcoin or crypto to high school students in my opinion is very good, because the majority of crypto users lately are favored by Millennials as their income.
lessons about crypto lessons for secondary schools will make them bitcoiner after graduation and if they continue their studies at university, they will help them pay their own tuition if they already have income from kipto, and in my opinion That is a very good development.

We need more initiatives like these if we want to see crypto adoption all over the world. France is the first country in the Europe to who have shown a serious interest in Bitcoin. Previously we had seen Japan who was a the pioneer in Asia for adopting bitcoin and making it legalize.

The good news is that they can get to know bitcoin since their teens, so it's important not to get the wrong perception about bitcoin and cryptocurrency.
Bitcoin will be a useful thing if used for positive things, even for all aspects of daily life.

Good move for France! planting a seed of knowledge to the young minds of people will help them to better understand the technology and use it on their advantages in the future. I hope other countries will follow their actions because it will make cryptocurrency much stronger once all people have a better understanding about pros and cons of cryptocurrency especially in securing their crypto assets.

sometimes technology like bitcoin can be used as additional material for lessons at school, because technology will increasingly be updated, maybe it is more suitable if the material about bitcoin is fed into a combined lesson between computer technology and bitcoin technology. maybe useful
and technological development indeed should be taught early on so that students better understand that technological and economic development is something as extraordinary as this. It is quite complex to include it in the curriculum, it needs adjustments to the theme or topic accordingly, but this will definitely provide very good insight.

It's new. So it will need time to adjust. There no textbooks written on it so they have their work cut out for them and will have to make textbooks themselves. This is just creating more jobs which are great. Now we need teachers and book authers. As you say, teach the students at a young age the younger the better. They need to learn these things in school since it makes you profit and profit feeds you. We were never taught about money or how to make it. The new generation will have many more advantages that we did not.

This is a great opportunity for those still in high school as they can learn crypto at a young age.  So far today, here in our country they are also planning to add crypto as one of the subject in school in college, but it's still on process and in debate, no info yet if they will push this. Hope they will as this is a great opportunity.

blockchain and bitcoin should be appropriate as an educational module for the curriculum considering the next few years
Not a requirement, but only a kind of a subject would help to those who want to pursue and learn such topic and its history.

IT course will probably include this module as part of the requirement in the years to come because the systems that will run today will probably be running blockchain already thus they have to have idea what is happening behind the devices. Students today has to learn the technology after all BTC is the future. Its hard to teach the new technology to the old men, they are not open and considers BTC and crypto to be scam since this is what they heard on TVs news.
I've seen another thread dedicated to the topic, and from what I remember this module should be a part of curriculum in Economics. So they'll explore the topic not from the technological standpoint but from a financial one for now. I think it's fair since Bitcoin is something that can be considered a step forward in our understanding of a medium of exchange, and this is a topic for Economics. As for IT, perhaps one day kids will study blockchain like that, although I am not sure if it's a topic for a school curriculum. Maybe it's more appropriate for university students.

Its indeed a good news from French government that they are introducing Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in their high school syllabus. There are many good news coming about Bitcoin and blockchain from around the world. I think we should give it enough time to develop. Slow growth in blockchain technology will last longer. Transactions through blockchain is cheap and fast as compared to conventional method, it is not controlled by any centralize agency. There are many benefits of blockchain technology it only requires some refining.

les appliquer au Bitcoin ;
• Dissocier euro et Bitcoin, du point de vue de la confiance

Bitcoin is mentioned many times in the file, and it is roughly translated (google translate)

Resources and educational activities
Pedagogical activity 1: The differentiation of the functions of money
Purpose: to make students able to differentiate the functions of money.
Resources and proposed activities:
• Propose a number of concrete information expressed in typical currency units
(price of goods or assets, transactions in goods, financial transactions, detention
assets ...)
• Classify these examples by function, justifying the choices.
Educational activity 2: Money and trust, the example of a cryptocurrency
Purpose: from the example of Bitcoin to make students reflect on the properties of the
change.
Resources and proposed activities:
• Offer students three videos from the euro video challenge 2017 website: (www.ecb.
europa.eu): "Bitcoin can replace the euro? "Is Bitcoin the currency of the future?
[English] "" Do you have to trust your currency? "
As well as a video from the site Draw me the eco: "Bitcoin is it a currency like
 others ? "(Drawingemoileco.com/bitcoin-il-currency-the-other/)
• Have students list the functions of the currency discussed and show how
apply them to Bitcoin;
• Dissociate euro and Bitcoin, from the point of view of trust

Perhaps our local French community can give it a good translation so that every one can understand it instead of getting the source from unknown blog that the OP has posted.

I think Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies is a great way to start before studying Blockchain technology in the future. While most country are not friendly with Bitcoin, the French gov are making different.

It was last year when Bitcoin was included in an exam question for Dutch students graduating from middle high school (it explained the halving concept actually to demonstrate scarcity and asked students to calculate circulation supply at a certain date). That generated SOME discussion I recall in local forums.

Not sure how the French will approach it. Probably from a freedom/democracy angle. Hopefull, even!
