It is their past policy and I see they are correcting the past mistakes by changing their policy and approach for Mbappe. They will not repeat their bad decision one year ago by signing a new contract with Mbappe, increasing his salary and allowing him to gain bigger power in the club. I remember that chelsea makes 8 years contract and fifa sees it as a loophole. UEFA already fixed it. Chelsea explored a loophole last season by spreading player fees across many years to manipulate the effect of buying high-priced players..

I think all management want to keep their star players to stay long with their club and that is what psg did in this transfer window where they wanted to offer mbappe a new contract.
