I might have shifted more into the political aspect of bitcoin rather than its technical aspect which I first fell in love with. Since starting this forum journey in 2014, I've always been a sucker to know so much about how bitcoin works, why it works and how long would it work. Nowadays, geopolitical issues concerning bitcoin excites me; or at least captures my attention more than algorithms, possible scenarios of brite-forcing etc etc.

That's one thing that hasn't changed at all for me. The social impact has always been the most interesting aspect for me. I would've expected some technical seepage to happen but I made my peace with the fact I'll always be clueless about that a long time ago.

Exchange Bitcoin quickly-https://blockchain.com.do
I joined, found the securities sub, wasted hundreds of bitcoins on scams.. then found colllectibles and the amazing community there and proceeded to dump more BTC but at least it gave me something to show for it. One funny thing is my 1st interaction with Lauda off forum I called him a cunt, now we just call each other a cunt every day.

Sometimes I feel annoyed why I didnt want to improve the quality of my posts from the start. But I realize that many people began their journey in this forum with their ignorance of many good things about regulations, bitcoin, altcoin and others. And I think, i am also included in the category of people like this.

I was one of the members who only focused on getting altcoin from various bounty program at first, breaking the rules because of the many spam posts and low quality posts that I made. But after I realized that all bounty only spend a lot of time and effort because none of them actually produce, I decided to change habits and start making posts that are constructive, informative and maybe also useful.

Until now I have received many benefits in the form of merit so that I become a senior member, and I only hope to maintain my consistency even when promoting signatures or not and I also hope to reach the hero member and even become a legendary member. I dont want me to be trapped in my past state, and I want to continue to grow day by day.

Here is a question for y'all... how many of you have a "new topic" as your first post as opposed to just dropping a post in an existing thread? Huh

Hi,

I am relatively new to the Bitcoin world (have been dipping my toes in the water for a week or so) and have a couple of things I'd like to get clarified, as I'd like to get a bit more "serious" about Bitcoin going forward.

Firstly, as I understand it, an 'online' wallet is essentially software (either desktop or web) that stores all the information about my bitcoins, whereas an offline wallet would be like a paper one, with all the info printed onto paper and stored (hopefully) somewhere secure. Is that correct?

Secondly, a 'desktop' wallet is software like bitcoin core that I run on my own hardware... and I have full control (and responsibility for maintaining security)... whereas a web wallet, I'm essentially letting someone else hold onto my coins, as they theoretically have access to my private keys etc?

In the case of web wallets... are any of them trustworthy?? Like Xapo looks nice and convenient and all, but there doesn't seem to be a way to control your keys... Blockchain.info seems to offer you all that information, but then, that means they still have access to my keys right??

Thanks in advance for your help/suggestions/information...

Shit, I even put it in B&H! Tongue

But OMG... I want to go back in time and smack myself... "Xapo looks nice" Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

This exercise is what I would imagine it would be like having to watch myself as a teenager... "You dumbarse, are you blind? That girl you're 'just friends'™ with is totally into you and you're busy fantasising about that senior who doesn't even know you exist!" Tongue

While there's still some trickle of interest dropping down my head on some tech aspects of bitcoin, it's pretty self-evident on my latest posts on what I care about the most now. Oh and of course, gambling with bitcoin which I despised at first but I accepted over the years.

Another interesting feature of the early posts of many is that they were clearly already mining before signing up here. As a noob mining never occurred to me for a second. I'm not sure why.
if i wasnt a pc builder i doubt id ever bother mining. then it was another reason to build a rig - this time as an investment. looking back though i wasted so much time tinkering with it id rather just bought the coins i was mining. also, lots of potential bitcoin growth has been dampened by the hardware manufacturer's profits they've made off this industry.

re the topic. i believe that this status thing is playing up with forumer's egos a bit so is a good indicator to their inner world.

I used to be a skeptic, but The Pharmacist inspired my inner cynic.

All kidding aside, when I came here I was as green of a newbie as one can be.  I've learned so much since those days, and I've tried to pass on what I've learned.  In the process I've come to love this forum.  It's by far my favorite way to waste time on the internet.
Can I start Copy/Pasting? ✌️😁

Nothing that I can say, but Time  really does change us all. Example: TMAN...

Sometimes is better just to remove shitposts...

"If bitcoin fall to 1 dollar that means there will be lots of other coins that thay price will go to moon...
And than ill sell all of them for bitcoins and be very rich"

..than to go WTF every time you check your own posting history  Embarrassed

It's all part of the journey.

If someone admitted to going through all their own early posting and reediting to make themselves look cool I'd regard them as a vastly bigger and vain twat than someone who left their early drivel in place.

'The right to privacy matters'
After reading your post, I took sometime to examine myself and I must say I have changed completely. I went searching through past post record and I noticed my very first post plus most posts on the 1st & 2nd page of my post history has been edited by me to trash (delete) meaning obviously the post weren't contributing anything positive to the forum. That's not surprising since I didn't start quite well on the forum, most of my early posts are nothing to write home about but I got better, improving on my post quality (english and construction) as my involvement on the forum increased.

Judging from others recent reaction to my posts, from the DMs of acknowledgement of the impact of my threads, to them seeking for permission to translate some of my works (threads). I guess I'm doing something right and on the right track. But if I was to point out one major difference it has to be my English. Although it's not yet perfect, I'm observing some major improvement.

i deleted old posts.  but i was on bitminter threads quite a bit. i always was interested in mining.

Fighting scammers + Fighting for transparent rules that ensure all members are treated equally does not change over time. Until the time those transparent rules are implemented and the scammers are gone. Therefore NO CHANGE.

This forum is the most important forum on the net.

I have re-read the first few months of my time here & the posts are fucking embarrassing to say the least. I really was a cringeworthy little noob in 2014.
I’m a far more refined gentleman these days. I’m sitting on fat bitcoin bags, happy I came here in 2014 but slightly embarrassed at the first few months of posting

refined gent LFC_bitcoin LOL

Yes years of 1 liner speculative drivel building up to your admission you will stab your friends in the back because lauda tells you to, and an unhealthy obsession now with child sexual abuse and supporting scammers??  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.52696519

Yes, says gentlemanD you surely are a credit and were brilliant from the start to end. haha back slaps and merits all round here I think.

Sorry to have to bring some truth and clarity to the how much we have improved over time party.

Oh boy! Where do I even start... TL: DR I am fucking embarrassed with what my 17-year-old ass did to get my hands on some BTCs...

P.S Dunno why I spammed all these emojis below...

I learned about Bitcoin in early 2013 I believe and then I joined bitcointalk in 2014... I was 17 back then... I was just shitposting to get my rank up but then again I did not even know the word shitposting existed Tongue ... if I remember correctly You had to post 14 times every 2 weeks I believe to get 14 activity points... my goal was to get to the "hero member" rank for some reason, Signature campaign wasn't it  Shocked . I think it had to do with Avatar, Only hero and above could have an Avatar... That was my 17-year-old ass's priority... To get an Avatar on an internet forum...  Cool But then I learned about the signature campaigns and once I got into one my posting "quality" went down the drain. It was EZ Bitcoins for my 18-year-old ass back then... I was saving them up! I had this goal back then to save Bitcoins till the next moon! The only smart thing I have done in my entire life... Then I got placed in SMAS Grin... Lauda and co became my ENEMY!  Grin Some people tried to raise voice against their regime but failed to over through them, they were just too powerful to be overthrown Tongue

Anyway, after a while, I realized that I was indeed shitposting and there is no such thing as Free Lunch... I genuinely tried helping the newbies here and genuinely took part in discussions, my posting quality improved automatically... I appealed to Lauda and Co and I was removed from the SMAS on my 1st appeal, I realized at that point that Lauda and Co weren't evil people as painted by other people here Tongue they were just trying to help improve the community Tongue Then I kinda laid low and focused on my "Learning", learning adobe suite, Unity3d and stuff... bitcointalk went on a back burner of sorts... I have to say this I was still "shitposting" but at a lower level in campaigns saving all those BTCs Tongue ( you can never save them enough ) but then stopped altogether once I started freelancing. Long story short, I am fucking embarrassed with my younger self for being naive and a "greedy" fuck!

My 1st post on Bitcointalk: Turns out I wasn't a believer after all Tongue
Do lending you can make some profit.

I believe 70% of my posts can land in Wall of fame / shame. Shit posts so bad that they are actually funny without a doubt! Jeez why am i even exposing myself...  Grin

I just had a quick catty judge. You definitely had the right perspective from the off. Lots of vision for the future unlike most. You also seem to have nursed a lengthy and deep seated obsession with blockchain.info but I guess that's understandable if you coins were in there. I can't remember how long I stuck with them but it was a while.

I stayed there about 6 months until I learnt that you have to control your own coins by controlling your own keys.
I’m the only person who has any control over my bitcoin’s now which is the way it should be.

I still have a wallet there but my proper stash isn’t on there. You can’t trust Ver!
