I think I need to exclude Grin. I like the coin very much, but there are basically no orders on Bisq, so I can't say this coin is traded on any true DEX, unfortunately.

I think Monero fits in our criteria.

You said Dogecoin?  Cheesy I would not say about dogecoin that it is decentralized. It is centralized enough, its CEO is Elon Musk  Cheesy.
Look at his twitter if you do not believe me.
This coin was created just for fun. How it can be called decentralized? Despite the fact that the coin has a large capitalization - it is still a joke
If it fits into my criteria I have to put it into my list. If my criteria are wrong let's discuss what is wrong.

I've added some new criteria to this research.

I'd like to create a list of truly decentralized currencies for myself and for any one who'd be interested in.

My criteria are:
- open source code
- no ICO
- no premine
- not a token
- decentralized development structure
- no "owner" or individual/group/company holding the majority of the stock
- traded at least on one true DEX (with some volume there)

Please mention a currency that in your opinion fits into the above criteria.
The criteria can be discussed here, so your opinion is welcome.

I myself did my homework so I have a list of the currencies that may fit into this criteria but I'd like the list to be created from scratch by the forum members.

Since you are the one that want to create a decentralized platform list, I don't see any reason why you will begin to ask us to tell you name of coins we think it's decentralized, how will you know when a coin is fully decentralized when you haven't studied it's code on github to see how it was developed, you can only create a list of truly decentralized blockchain only if you can be able to read the github code of all the blockchain project we have in existence.

That truly right mate I think op promoting the coins giving list to decentralized plan of their dreams lol😀😀😀 good luck for him hope they got to success for their plan project.
That's true! I'm looking for the coin of my dreams :-)

The list is good but there are also other good coin that will fits that list!! Many project are doing well without passing through ICO process. Projects like Serve

Seems like Serve is a token, so it doesn't fit this thread criteria.

How ICO project fits that list? Don't ICO always have a premine to sell token to the investors? I think you have misunderstood the thread. Please check again.

Thank you very much for your contribution. I was not aware of the fact.
So I tried to understand things more into depth.
From here: https://bitcoinist.com/elon-musk-resigns-as-dogecoin-ceo-after-price-soars-30/ it seems like the CEO position was a kind of joke and that Elon Musk has already "resigned".

My main concern about Dogecoin is whether any of the exchanges its being traded are to be considered true DEXs.

I wish that there to be more known and more used decentralized currencies and also i wish there to be more decentralized exchanges and people start using more.
Absolutely! That's why I've created this list.

Grin is on my list. I haven't studied it into depth at the moment, but I'll put it here as most probably it's inside of criteria.
What is the DEX with some volume where you can trade GRIN?
I think I have missed the bold part initially when I made comment, however, I am not sure if GRIN is having a good amount of volume in any DEX, I gotta check it.
I just checked it and fund nothing.
It seems like they are traded on Bisq, but I'm not seeing any volume there.
I'll keep Grin in the list and will be watching their volumes on Bisq.

The above criteria let us reduce the full 4K-5K list of existent coins into a very short one. At the moment I'm working on 180 coins  that can possibly enter into this elite group of fair coins to invest into.
And I suspect that among all that 180 coins I'll find no more than 20 that are within the above criteria.
To make analysis of the code of 20 coins is not that big deal, I guess.
But let me please understand better your idea, what would you exactly look for into the coins code?
It's a very difficult task because you can't just go read the code and understand what everything is all about when you don't know what you are looking for, what you have to first do is to study the white paper of the project and then you can know what you are to look for in the code and check whether the code is really in line with the white paper or not, I believe that this is the only way it could be done, the question is if you are really to spend so much of your timing doing it and what do you stand to benefit.

I agree with you that the task is not easy. That's why I decided to make my personal research public. Many people may contribute quicker to this research as everybody is looking into his set of coins and he/she knows why they are following those particular coins so it's easier for them to speak about.

I don't really see a coin with no premine and with a DEX exchange. Some have a true DEX exchange like Komodo and Ethereum.
But they did have ICO and ETH has been premined. Some are forks of other coins, but they are not on decentralized exchange.
Some coins say that there is no premine, but in reality there is some premine as the devs are the first one to mine their coins.
Yes the group is quite strict, but there are some gems.

Good thinking there are alot of coins which have no ICO but majority are premine, Dogicoin is good example ,Veil is also promising, privacy coin without ICO.
From here seems like Veil has a semi-centralized organizational structure: https://coinpaprika.com/coin/veil-veil/

I do not know if these cryptocurrencies meet all requirements but they are no pre-mined, no-ico, own blockchain:
VEIL, Synchrotroncoin, Grin.
From here it seems like Synchrotron has premine: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/annsynchrotron-coin-pos-payment-solution30-weeks-airdropwhitepaper-5119924

I thought that the only coin that meets your requirement is the only dogecoin. Most of the other coins are having pre mine. We are talking about a coin that included in top 100 CMC.
No premine, Decentralized, not a token and build on its own blockchain, and it doesn't even have an owner.
Please keep in mind that I'm not speaking about top 100 coins only here.
In fact Dogecoin was in my list. I'll put it here.

(bitcoin is obvious so i won't mention it!) you forgot about litecoin if you are only talking about the top 100 big market cap coins. it had no premine and it is a stand alone blockchain with no ICO or any centralization.

i am very interested in seeing OP's list though. please make sure to share it with us.
From here LTC seem to have a semi-centralized organization structure : https://coinpaprika.com/coin/ltc-litecoin/
