Thanks for the reply. Was just wondering. Im not going to use this too much. I just watched a ted talk about NSA and how they track people and if a company doesnt comply, they hack them.

What talk was that. You got a link?

Thanks. Fun to watch, a little on the light side though, but I guess you cant expect more in 20 minutes Smiley

Dilma Roussef is great.

We expressed to the Government of the United States our disapproval, and demanded
explanations, apologies and guarantees that such procedures will never be repeated.
Friendly governments and societies that seek to build a true strategic partnership, as in our
case, cannot allow recurring illegal actions to take place as if they were normal. They are
ur/acceptable.
Brazil, Mr. President, will redouble its efforts to adopt legislation, technologies and mechanisms
to protect us from the illegal interception of communications and data.
My Government will do everything within its reach to defend the human rights of all Brazilians
and to protect the fruits borne from the ingenuity of our workers and our companies.

He has actually made a few more ted talks. If you look on his personal site, you can find them.

Interesting Topics and I wish the Canadian gov't were as diligent in it's efforts on our behalf. Though I wish they hadn't brought in the AML and KYC. Getting registered on CAVIRTEX is a pain.

Basicly anything that uses "off the record communication" aka OTR.
Paper about it here: https://otr.cypherpunks.ca/otr-wpes.pdf

Pidgin uses OTR via Jabber (aka XMPP) http://www.pidgin.im/
OTR plugin here: www.cypherpunks.ca/otr/
You should mask your ip with tor / proxy / etc though, so you might as well us this torchat, i have no idea what underlying protocolls it is using though.

Well according to https://github.com/prof7bit/TorChat its a pidgin plugin... but

Nope no OTR. https://lists.torproject.org/pipermail/tor-talk/2010-December/004636.html

Well if it suits your needs, I hope these links help you to find out more about it and to make your choice.

If you want to use jabber, these servers run within tor:

  • jabber.ccc.de        >>    okj7xc6j2szr2y75.onion
  • https://riseup.net    >>    ztmc4p37hvues222.onion

Be carefull with your password though, because they are usually stored in plaintext

Is there any chat service that is 100% secure, and encrypted chat that no government can track? I have nothing really to hide, but I like the fact that there is something out there that the government cant control. Cheesy

I haven't tried it, but there's TORchat: http://lifehacker.com/5919523/torchat-is-an-easy-to-use-anonymous-and-encrypted-chat-client

Ahhh, this will be fun. Cheesy

I would've thought any public chat wouldn't be 100% secure, unless you were encrypting every message.
