I think some people are in it only for gambling as it provides somewhat anonymous gambling and they don't have to provide their verification documents to play at a BTC Casino and they see that it is very easy to deposit/withdraw using Bitcoin and it takes much less time as compared to other online casinos which use alternate methods such as Credit Cards.

Then there are people who don't know where else to spend it, they don't want to keep their bitcoins closed in a cold wallet and they want to make use of it and since they don't want/need to buy anything with it or don't know where to invest it, they simply gamble with it.

I think most people would be in it for they think that it will bring them a profit some day. They want the price of BTC to go higher so they can get rich as some of the early adopters did. Will it happen or not, who knows?

I think a poll is a great idea.

I actually think gambling is one of the more easily grasped uses of bitcoin, but I'm not sure that's why people started using it, rather it's just something that bitcoin is especially useful for.

Personally, I got into crypto because I was fascinated by the emerging technology that it provides.

Gambling actually came later when I decided to divest my Sportsbook holdings. It's actually grown into my primary use-case for Bitcoin.

I think a good % of people using btc also for gambling, but I think also that are people that normally gambling, and with altcoins there is a new environment for betting, for example with "microbetting", fast crediting, no account, anonimous, etc...
This is a really innovation in the market and a lot of people can enjoy this and other opportunities.

What % of people are into bitcoin/alternate coins because of gambling?  Is it higher or lower than illegal goods?

Other than that, the rest of the people must be either trading/speculating or doing logistical stuff in the world of crypto's.

I'm into bitcoin based social gambling games, NOT into any pump n dump shit.

This sounds about right. I'd say most people that "use" bitcoin use it to buy drugs online, the rest are speculators/gamblers. Thanks Satoshi. lol

HOW DARE anyone create something where I can store my enitre lifes wealth and move it any where on the planet with out the pigs taking it all, HOW DARE THEY.

You're joking, right? Dude, it's Bitcoin not shares of Coca-Cola. Everyone here is gambling. The young entrepreneurs and VC investors are gambling their professional youth in the hopes that Bitcoin will be the next big thing. The crooks and scammers are gambling on the ability of Bitcoin to hide their crimes. The drug buyers are gambling their future freedom on the notion that Bitcoin will keep them from getting caught. The investors and traders are gambling on the price being in their favor tomorrow. The hodlers are gambling on the distant future where that private island populated with large breasted nude blond women is waiting for them. The libtards and anarchists are gambling their time by supporting a notion that one financial mechanism is the key to their favorate version of the future.

We're all gambling.

I like to gamble a couple times a month to see how lucky im feeling, but other than that I limit my gambling to actual trades, hoping that the shitcoin I buy goes up and I get some extra BTC off it.

I have become a fan of altcoins because of gambling, not on some dice sites, but trading them on exchanges which gave me a very adventurous experience and yes, I compared trading to gambling because I think alts' trading is nothing but bots gambling and playing with the price all the time.

I've entered the Bitcoin thing because of gambling, I mean when I started gambling faucets at win88.me (Not advertising) and there I made 0.2 for the first time with just 2k faucet, I would say it was sheer luck which touched me that night, and after that, I tried to stop gambling but didn't, but yet I have not been gambling on my own coins as I don't want to lose any of my hard-earned coins at any cost.

I'm into Bitcoin in general because of gambling, I've been addicted to it because of one gambling forum, where there is a subforum about Bitcoin.

I am in Bitcoin because of mining and trading. Don't know the actual percentage of people are into bitcoin/alternate coins because of gambling. I think the percentage is very large.

Probably when we started out the higher % were into illegal goods vs gambling now its probably easily gambling way ahead and the trend isnt showing signs of stopping.
I don't think we should get addicted at trading illegal goods and gambling otherwise the govs will find more excuses to ban bitcoin. Besides that, bitcoin's reputation will be destroyed. It will hinder the adoption growth rate.

Theres nothing we can do to stop people trading whatever, same with if they were using USD.  There is lots of geniune trade that goes on though look as the goods section of this forum.

Bitcoin is a taste of freedom that means take the good with the bad my friend, we started out getting it on the map with illegal goods no need to stop now lol the governments can't ban bitcoin they can only pretend to. Op Funny thing it is so mixed up the guys that buy illegal goods are the same gambling addicts/enjoyers of a gambling. I would say there is more gamblers as time has gone on for the stated reasons.

This is really hard to say as they're both huge uses of bitcoin and it will be hard to find reliable data, but personally I think they're both valid uses. Regardless of whether something is ilegal or not I think people should be free to purchase whatever drugs they wish or gamble with their money if prohibited and bitcoin gives people the freedom to do that.
