Hello, my name is Junko and I am addicted to gambling.

Unlike many however, I have embraced my gambling addiction - specifically my poker addiction. I love playing poker. I play poker everyday. When I'm not playing poker, I am watching videos and reading all things about poker. When I'm not playing, watching or reading/studying poker, I am thinking about poker. When I sleep, I dream of poker. I am obsessed and consumed with poker.

I enjoy playing the game of poker, studying it, working to improve my play, competing against others and of course, winning. But even when I lose, I enjoy the game just the same.

I exercise disciplined bankroll management and tilt control so my risk of ruin is essentially zero. My poker addiction has never caused me to miss work. My social life and relationships have not been affected by my poker addiction - at least not as far as I can tell. Nor have I ever not been able to meet any of my real life financial obligations/responsibilities.

If anything, my poker addiction has helped me better manage and keep track my finances as weird as that sounds.

Just thought I'd offer my perspective as an addicted gambler.

You are in true love with poker because it working awesome for you. When everyone has that kind of feelings about any game than he has a lot of experience and some tricks to make confuse his opponents. The good thing is that you are playing with management of your life and nothing is getting effect by this habit. For professional poker player it is much easy to manage his financial condition by help of this.

Why is someone get addicted to gambling once he gamble ?
Couse it feel good when you win , and you want to gain more so you will never stop until you have enough winning , and it's enjoyable to play it for fast time when you got board and nothing to do. But most of people use gambling to earn not just for fun.

You are really addicted gambler, but i am surprised that your family and your other relationship never disturb from you, also you are happy with your poker life, even we see mostly addicted persons want to leave their habit. So it is really good, i think other people who have been addicted from gambling, they should follow you.

This is true and this is also one of the strategy of the house.  Once in a while they let one person win the jackpot, inculcating to peoples mind that maybe they will win too.  So lots of people will then jump in to the scheme without realizing that sometimes the result is rigged.

First of all, this is just my observation, as I gamble before, but I am not an addicted gambler, I was just there because I find it profitable that time. Now, I found few friends there, that I think is one reason. I always talk to them and we are all asking each other over and over again of "how much have you won today?" "lets do this, lets aim for the jackpot, do you want to join me?". I think it is because of the winning, maybe, just maybe, their winnings are very important and useful to them.

Well who would not get addictive if you can have money while playing. But some people quit when there already ahead of something.

Exactly, this is why money management and discipline are the most important attitudes while gambling.

Because when someone gambles and loses, he tries to cover the loses. And then they dig a bigger hole for themselves or cover it. When they cover it, they want to get to a positive and lose more. It all goes in a circle because people always want more and more and can not stand losing.

Its not true that everyone who gamble get addicted. I don't know where did you hear this, but this is totally wrong. Gambling is not drug, where you get addicted very fast.
Addiction from gambling comes over time, and in that time you need to be in casino a lot. Couple bets here and there are not addiction. I gamble almost every day but I'm not addicted.

because the profit make addiction..  Cheesy

Yeah it's very true. Any profits or the victory we get would certainly give the effect of addiction and we will always want to get the victory it again. The defeat also gives us the addiction, because we will certainly be minded to do gambling again and want to get our money back. It's something that's hard to pass when we can't control themselves

I think that the main factor is the person's curiosity while playing gambling. someone really wants to win, and when he loses then he will continue to play until the win. and when he wins, he will continue to play until he became very wealthy.

What are you talking about? There is no way you can keep winning all the time, in gambling there is always up and down so to get huge winning all the time until you become wealthy i dont think that is a possible thing to do unless you are lucky enough to hit big jackpot. But so far that i know if you keep on gambling and try to recover it you will just end badly

Lol, I am not addicted to my work, even though it gives mi profits, obviously. When we are talking about gambling addiction you have consider potential profit vs potential risk.
Gamblers usually are plagued with various numbers of fallacies therefore they can't clearly think about risk vs. reward ratio during their sessions.

Work and gambling are two very different things. Gambling is already known for creating addiction to those playing it, while work is something you're forced to do in order to earn your living. Most of the time, it's not even what you really want to do in life; just something you need to do. Work is work, gambling is a luck game. You can win or loose. At work, what can you win or loose?

Actually there is already a thread that talks exactly like this... But anyway, mostly I think is not really addicted to gambling, they are there to take the chance, that they might win something... Some also are addicted to gambling not because they cannot quit anymore butthey have already staked something very important in their life like time and too much resources...  Smiley

My theory is that there are a lot of slots and games where you make a good win in the first rounds. This is like an appetizer. When gamblers are motivated through the initial wins then they risk more and almost every time they not only lose all the previous wins but also their complete balance.

I think that the main factor is the person's curiosity while playing gambling. someone really wants to win, and when he loses then he will continue to play until the win. and when he wins, he will continue to play until he became very wealthy.
