More than illegal it is unethical.

However, people do it anyways. I might open up a thread in the off topics for this, but I am not sure people would trust me with their money or not.

Yeah, that won't work.

Regardless, I already opened up a discussion thread in off topic, looks like no cricket lovers here.

Gambling is illegal and I seen so many people losing thousands of dollars daily due to placing wrong bets on the teams especially for cricket matches. One cannot even complain then and so it's no use to gamble.

It is illegal, but it does happen.
If the Meyyappans and the Kundras of this world use Bitcoin instead of shady bookies, we shouldn't be complaining.

Well there are already sites which do not require them to convert their FIAT to Bitcoins, and they can use CC's directly. So i don't think they would prefer doing it with bitcoin.

Betting is illegal in India.
I definitely wouldn't be comfortable using my credit card, if I wanted to gamble.

I guess there will be a lot of bitcoin sports gambling sites that will be allowing to put bets on cricket worldcup.

Do you want a "Place Your Bets On World Cup" thread or do you just want a simple discussion thread?

True, but I am not sure if the Kundras and the Meyyappans know about them.
I don't think we can start a "Place Your Bets" thread here. It won't be easy to implement.

Would be nice to see more people gambling with Bitcoins. And it's not just great for the price, also the casino operators have good reasons to choose Bitcoin as a payment method because they can't be chargbacked unlike Paypal and credit card.

With the world cup around the corner, a lot of people must be punting on cricket.
We need to popularize Bitcoin gambling amongst the hard core gamblers.

It is so old fashioned to trust a bookie, who operates out of a dinghy room and has 8-10 mobile phones. If gamblers in India switch to Bitcoin, it could provide a big boost to the price.  Grin

PS - Somebody should start a thread on the world cup in the off-topic section

The main issue is getting in an out of Bitcoin. Its not easy for the ordinary guy.

I agree it is difficult for ordinary guys.
But for big players, who can easily get dollars delivered to their associates in the US through hawala transactions, getting their hands on bitcoins shouldn't be that difficult.
